I love this old coaster, though I feel it has lost much of it’s charm since Cedar Fair took over. Gone is the station that was combined with an arcade and a bumper car ride (Lusse Skooters too if I remember correctly). Gone is the tunnel under the station, and the station itself used to be on the bend to the lift hill. And finally, gone is The Journey to the Center of the Earth, a dark boat ride with a mill chute that used to run under the Thunderhawk. They are all missed, and Cedar Fair did a great disservice to Dorney by removing these unique elements.

Well, enough ranting, I still love the Thunderhawk, though they made one little change that really bothers me. They added a brake just before the bunny hops into the station. I could not believe they would do this to this grand old coaster! It takes away from the out of control airtime that those hops used to provide, as it now seems to just putter into the station.

Very fun, it suprised me with the airtime, it had alot more than i expected. A classic ride.

This is a truely great coaster. It provides tons of lateral Gs, great headchopper effects and some very nice air. One complaint-- that trim on the second to last bunny hill coming in to the station. It really does kill the ending. The first of the set of three is great with tons of air, but once you hit that trim, you just roll over the hills and dont get anything. Best seat of the ride is the back (as is with many coasters) but especially on this one because you dont feel the effects of the trim as greatly.

This has thew potential to be a highly regarded classic woodie but theres one problem - the trim brake on the bunny hops! It kills the entire ending. Remove that trim and let the train fly over those humps and into the station and you got a definite winner.

This is another classic. I think it was built in the 1920s. It is a ton of airtime.

Thunderhawk was my first roller coaster, and it still is a wonderful till this day. Steel Force towers over it, but I would take a fun, speedy trip on this over that hunk of steel sleep any day! Many people complain of Thunderhawks roughness, but I think it adds to the ride immensely. The slamming laterals and violent air are what make Thunderhawk a great small woodie in my mind. The ride does also not appear to have been struck by the break curse after so many years, and it still runs like a woodie should. The ride, however, is quite short. If it were longer, it would certainly be higher in my book.

I was impressed and rather suprised at this classic woodie. It is not as big as Hercules, but it is not nearly as rough either. It gives some great airtime through the bunnyhops, especially in the back seat. This is a fun coaster that is not too intense for younger riders and not too boring for hardcore thrillseekers. Fans of classic coasters will find Thunderhawk particularly interesting.

I was not really a fan of this ride. It was rough (which I like), but it seemed just to slow. I maybe rode it on a bad day, but I just did not seem to like it. There was no airtime when I went on it, because of the trim brakes. I bet this ride would be awesome if there were no trim brakes.
