I found Thunderhawk to be a pretty good little woodie. My first Schmeck (and the oldest one still in operation), Thunderhawk was a great kick-back to the roaring twenties. Now over 80 years old, its hard to believe that it is so good (I figured 30s, if not 40s and was suprised to see how old it is). The hills arent huge, but fun nonetheless. The airtime is ok, not great but not lacking either, and the color of the wood against the setting sun was cool too. I liked the begining part out of the station, though it would have been better if enclosed like so many older woodies had. The trains are a sore point of the ride though, I would prefer to see original ones on there, but who knows what happened there? Still yet another fun, exciting Dorney coaster

Fun ride with some good air. But when I got on after riding Steel Force, it felt kinda slow, but the rides a classic woody anyway. Liked the bunny hills returning back. Ride this gem at Dorney Park & youll experience one of Dorney Parks fewest pasttime memory rides left.

I never had a wait for this nice woodie. Old and nostalgic, you can see the wood chipping off as you ride. Really nice drops, I rode this 3 times at the end of the day.

This is just a great, classic wooden roller coaster. It is truely a part of history at Dorney. They have made some modifications to it over the years but it is still great. I miss the tunnel at the beginning... now it is just a weird ditch. The breaks tend to get a little annoying, and the ride is really starting to get rough, but it does not take away from the amazing ride and airtime. It is funny comparing it to Steel Force, with them being next to eachother.

Hopefully this classic doesnt fall victom to a bulldozer anytime soon. It would be another piece of my riding history gone.

If I were going strictly by love for the ride, I would give it a 10. But the ride itself... 8.

This is a great old wooden roller coaster. I love the way in starts in an indoor station and brings you up the hill through a little tunnel. As a kid we would ride this one as many times as we could at the end of the night until the park closed.

It was ok, but nothing special. The turn around was nice.

Though its no Phoenix, this is still one heckuva ride. It was pretty rough, but in a very good way, unlike Hercules (R.I.P.) I liked the airtime, although if you want that, go take a walk to Steel Force. I liked the turnaround, although if you want a cool turnaround, go to Steel Force. I forced my friend to go on this ride. This was his first roller coaster, (he thought he was going to fall off) and he said he liked it, although I could see right through him and tell that he was lying. Well who cares if he didnt like it? This is a great coaster.

A very good old coaster. It does lack a little in airtime but the out of control, unperfect design, and old school feel definately make up for this. The ride is exciting and attacks quickly. The best wooden coaster at Dorney Park even if thats not saying much (it is currently the only woodie at Dorney but even when Hercules was here, Thunderhawk was much much better).

I enjoyed it much more than Hercules, but who wouldnt. I expected more airtime and a more out of control feeling, based on my brother-in laws advice, but it was just slightly better than average in my opinion.

EDIT: after riding during the 2005 season I have to knock in down another point, creeping into the rough and painful category

Not a classic by any means but its fun. The trim brakes are an annoyance though and really detract from the ride. As mentioned in other reviews the front seat provides the best ride: the airtime is really quite forceful coming over the drops. The ride is bumpy as youd expect, but nowhere near as bumpy as the late Hercules, which was the newer coaster!
