I love this coaster. I dont find it rough at all. The combination of elements on this really makes it, and the height of the loops.

Arrrgh! This is probably the most disappointing B&M Ive ever had the misfortune of riding. I had really looked forward to riding this. Sadly, this only brought pain to me The line was extremely annoying. I had to wait an hour in the sun, thanks to only one train running. The B&M Roar got extremely annoying and country music was played the whole time. After my quite long wait, I made it into the station. I chose the 3rd row, figuring that it would be a pretty smooth spot. After the lift, we went into the first drop. Right after the turnaround I heard a quiet scraping sound. I figured it was trim brakes. At first I was upset, but then I realized that I needed them. The first loop, although smooth, really did nothing for me. After that, we hit the dive loop. This is where the pain began. Once we hit the ending twist my head was banged against the hard restraints. What followed was extremely disorienting. I believe we hit the dive loop, followed by the corckscrew and helices. I really cant remmember. My head was being banged around violently and my legs were in alot of pain. This is where the trim brake came in handy. If the train was going any faster, I wouldve had an anurism. My legs were tingling, my head was banging around while trying to keep my head back. By the end of the ride, I was holding my legs in severe pain. Then, We hit the brake run. I slammed into the ersatz bike seat type - thing. So, after thinking about my rating, Im gonna leave it at 6. It lacks the consistency that Ive come to expect from B&M. Sadly, this ride ruined my day. I had an extremely bad headache after this ride.

This is a great ride. People say its rough but I think that it isnt that bad. The thing that takes away from the ride is when they have the trim brake on. Other than that it is a fun coaster.

This ride was brutal. The transitions were smooth but the ride along the track provided some headbanging. That second half was really dissapointing. Good vertical loop and dive loop though. By the way, the restraints on this ride are invasive! I know all B&M stand-ups are the same (restraint wise) but I felt downright violated!

I stood in the back and it was a little rough. Nice first drop and theres a lot of hang time in the loop. I also got some airtime on that little hill after the inclined loop and before the MCBR. Makes your legs feel all tingly and due to that bar, it hurts the family jewels a little too LOL. I am not a big fan of stand-ups.

This ride was pretty rough, but overall a good coaster. The first half of the coaster was great, but everything after the corkscrew seemed to be a tad too rough. (There was a lot of headbanging) The stand-up element is pretty cool, and although many people complained of pain on their legs, I didnt feel anything. Fun ride overall.

Finally...I got the chance to ride stand up coaster. It’s about the only B&M type I haven’t ridden (accept for flying) and from afar it looks so awesome. Mantis is a really good coaster because of the stand-up restraints and they really enhance the experience and the design to a whole other level. For example, you can see everything around you turn upside down when you go through an inversion. I can’t imagine any other type of trains. And that’s because while it looks SO good at first glance, it really isn’t all that intense. If they weren’t there, this coaster would just be a gimmick that looks good but doesn’t deliver. Don’t listen to the recording that’s played throughout the queue and station that says Mantis “is one of the most intense experiences ever created by man” (or something like that) because it really isn’t all that bad after the drop and vertical loop (this is why 1 pt. was taken off). One part of the ride that could be considered “intense” is the 1st drop which, hands down, beats almost any coaster I’ve ever ridden…accept for a few. As you drop straight down, you can feel your legs being pulled up off the floor and it is really unlike anything else. What a great decision for B&M to venture off from their trademark spiral drop on Mantis because it really makes for a great start. The enormous vertical loop that follows is really is a sight to see. It’s so tall and pictures don’t give it justice. And when you go through it, the feeling is excellent. The trim on the drop provide some good hangtime as well and didn’t knock off any intensity whatsoever, for me. The last thing would be some heavy G forces that are so powerful, they actually can make your legs sore for the rest of the day (and the chance of that happening is unpredictable). The ride trackage itself, apart from the features listed above, though, isn’t all that exciting. Just fun. A lot of people just bash this coaster to do so. It’s not really all that rough. I only had 1 ride out of my 4 that I could consider rough…and that was at night…so maybe that’s why. It could have been the train or maybe something else but my only night ride did have more headbanging than the others. Besides that time, the headbanging was absolutely tolerable. Now, I don’t consider Mantis “smooth” because on every one of my rides there was some choppiness (this is why the other pt. was taken off), but it’s not as serious as say an SLC, and the Gs DO NOT…I repeat…Do Not always hurt your legs. It was just a little tingling, at most. I could just go on and on about the complaints that have been made regarding the ride. All that matters is that standing up is so thrilling, so different and improved a coaster that could have been just mediocre. They are now a rarity and it’s really great Cedar Point has one that they call home. Bottom line is Mantis is a pretty good coaster.

This was a very good stand-up- not quite as good as Riddlers though. The first little dip into a banked turn built some great momentum for the initial decent, but I heard some strange shear on the first drop and after further investigation, trim brakes? Just imagine if the train was free to let loose. Anyway, the rest of the layout was great, from the first loop, to the nice twists and turns, to the monster corkscrew all while over the line and building anticipation. With another inversion or two and dissassembling the trims on the drop, this ride would probably be the best stand-up.

My first stand-up coaster. I loved the feeling of flying down the first hill actually standing up. The only negative thing about this coaster is i got the worst headache from it. I even had to lay down at the hotel for a while before going back in the park. I dunno maybe its because im really short and my head didnt reach the top of the harness...but overall i had a great time on Mantis. The best part would be the huge diving loop..great feeling! So yea i highly recommend this one...hopefully u will have less headbang time then me!!

This ride now comfortably fills a dubious spot on my coaster count. Due to my strange, inexplicable connection to Iron Wolf, I can honestly say that Mantis is the worst stand-up that I have been on...and indeed, the worst B&M coaster period. Painfully rough throughout the ride, this coaster also gets the CF treatment of trims on the first drop (although maybe that&#39.s a good thing here?). I have to give props to the location (being over the water for much of the ride is pretty cool), and it still looks like it should provide a nice ride, but unfortunately, the experience that it dishes out just doesn&#39.t meet those expectations.
