I loved this ride, my boyfriend hated it. But he said it would be fun had it not been for the bar which slammed up between his legs just before takeoff. Personally, I hadnt noticed, but Im glad the bar was there, since the Gs on this thing RULED!! LOL Besides the boys nagging, (im sure the pain will subside in a day or two lol..) Go Point!!!
I have been on the Mantis on separate occasions, in 1998, 2002, and just last week. Each time I have noticed more and more the extreme G forces you pull, almost too much for some including myself. I felt the blood pool in my legs on some of the turns, which left them hurting into the next day. I thought I was the only one who experienced this, but am glad to learn that other riders felt it too. You almost need a G suit like fighter pilots wear. Any tips on preventing this ill effect? I heard that locking the seat in a low position to ensure a bent-leg riding position can help. Otherwise it was fun.
I rode the coaster in the afternoon it was decent. Me and my brother hopped in line at night just for the heck of it and let me say that the ride is 10 times better at night. A complety different experience
Mantis is a great ride. It has a unique layout and decent speed. My only complaint was that it kind of hurt my legs, but not too much to an extent. Its a completely different experience when you are standing up, and it would definatly be a different ride without the standup trains...but thats all part of the experience.
Smooth, intense but standups are painful to me. There is a bit of head banging and that trim on the first drop is very strong and takes away some good air, but I see why the trim is used because otherwise the pain would be really bad.
I loved this roller coaster and it is the only stand up coaster I have ever been on I really enjoyed it and it was so cool going on loops while standing up...
Mantis is great, not much of a thrill. You dont get alot of room for airtime and you cant have your seat a little lower. It was a pain in my crotch and neck being shorter at only 57, the inversions are nice and standing up has to be a thrill. But i think that the ride operators take standing up to far and had me basically on my tippy toes. The line ranges from alot but mostly no more then 2 hours on a crowded day. I give it a 9 but next time Im wearing platforms on it.
With Iron Wolf being the only stand up I have been on, I was not looking forward to Mantis. However for the most part I actually did enojy the ride, with just one complaint: The brake on the first drop. Otherwise it was fun and pretty smoothe. Quality ride, but nothing special.
Respect the Mantis! Come on, this ride is absolute quality, and with Iron Wolf as my only other stand-up experience...I was expecting the worst. But there was no nut crunching, no head banging, and no castration. The ride was pain free, and the elements in the ride were awesome. The drop is kinda weak with the brake, but the rest of the ride is top notch, and gives me a whole new outlook on stand-ups. Great ride.
Anything by B&M is a good ride, although this ride isnt as good as Georgia Scorcher or Chang.
