A very fun, zippy woodie. Not sure that the theming does much, but the ride is good enough to make up for that. Well-done; children should be able to handle this coaster as, while exciting, it's not too intense.

Awesome coaster. Very long track. The first drop is so huge and steep that it's the only part of it that's scary, because after that nothing could be scary. The back of the train gets so fast. Watch out the brake can be brutal.

Good wooden coaster that certainly had its moments. The appearance looks great as the castle station looks good and I love how the ride is nestled among trees in the back of the park. The first drop was very steep and gave some great air time, as did the following turnaround hill. The following curving hill gave good laterals and then the bunny hill gave great air as well. Then came another turnaround that gave decent air, followed by a figure eight finale that was pretty slow and devoid of air. The first half was great, but the second half was very dull. Also, the ride was quite rough throughout, but nothing too unbearable.

Wonderfully themed to look just as cheesy as the hotel in Vegas. The first half of this walk-on is good and provides air for front and back riders, however the second half is very weak and forceless.

Let me start by saying this is probably the best ride in the park, but itwont score as high as the Astrosphere since that is the best experience in the park. APPEARANCE-9 The ride looks great and I like the castle, but it just does not quite scream 10 for it looks. CAPACITY-5 This long of ride and they run one train. Reminds me of Mt. Olympus if you are going to charge more then 30 to get into your combined park then your coaster should have two trains. RIDE QUALITY-9 If it could have maintained the front half it would easily get a ten. The drop is great and so is the first hill after, but about halfway through it loses something. IMO it does not get rough or anything it just kind of loses what it had. FUN-8 I liked it better the second time but it was still average fun. I do think the price to get in sort of took from the park. I really wish I could have done a pay as you go. RERIDE-8 If I ever go back this is a must ride. OVERALL-39 AVG-7.8 A very good wood coaster that deserves the 8.

APPEARANCE: I really like Excaliburs setting, as its nestled in the back of the park around many trees, which hide the layout. Also, just like with Dragons Descent, Funtown dedicated an entire area to Excalibur, and themed the back of the park to Camelot. Excaliburs station is great too as it is a giant castle. The train also is a nice touch, as along the sides of the train are names of medieval knights.

WAIT TIME: 10-15 minutes- As long as you arent picky about your seat, you can get on pretty quickly. Lines for the front and back seats can get up to 20-30 minutes though because the park only runs one train, which is a disappointment considering how long the ride is. Excaliburs ride attendants are top-notch as they were very lively and checked everyones restraints very quickly.

RIDE: Earlier this year Funtown supposedly had work done on Excalibur. Well, it didnt work as the ride is much rougher and slower than it was two years ago. After the fast climb up the long lift hill, Excalibur begins its steep plunge. It still provides great air-time in the back seat, but its nothing like it used to be. Also, the ride rattled me around a bit at the bottom where they take your picture (it is a very good picture though and fairly cheap). Following that is a large turnaround which gives just a little air-time (used to give insane ejector air for front seat riders). Following that is another good drop (no air-time anymore!) and then a really rough curving hill followed by a quick dip. Then comes a small air-time producing hill and you fly up another turn-around hill, which still provides a good burst of air-time. Afterwards is a rough turnaround where Excalibur seemed to lose a lot of its speed. Then came a lifeless drop followed by the rides sub-bar figure eight finale. Still the ride provided no air-time like it used to, but worst of all it lost all of its speed now for the finale. I dont know what happened, but the off-season work definitely didnt improve the ride. I hope I just caught Excalibur on a bad day.

FINAL VERDICT: What used to be one of my favorite wooden coasters, is now towards the bottom of my list thanks to the ride being much rougher now and having less air-time. I used to be able to ride this over 30 times in a row in comfort, but I got a head-ache after two rides this year. If you enjoy aggressive wooden coasters, Excalibur is for you.

Again, Im biased and spoiled. Ive ridden this at night, in the pitch dark, just after the tracks were greased and it only made me love it more. Its definitely a great ride, and a reason that many guests even make the trip to good ol Saco, Maine. The back and front seats have their perks, but I always head for the back. Nothing compares to the headache you get after the 12th ride nonstop in the back seat.

Easily one of the best wooden coasters i have ever ridden. They layout is wonderful, tons of great airtime, low overpasses which make me pull my hands down every time... it has a smooth ride without losing that great wooden coaster feel.

well what can you say about it. it is not the fastest nor tallest nor wildest ride but fun none the less. ride it at night and notice their is little lights on it exept for the pole out in nowhere but the helix lol. it has a good mix of elements rathern then a lot of any one sensation. and how do you beat a walk on line most of the time. to be a 10 it needs some more airtime, hold its speed a little better kinda slow in the figure 8. it would also need atleast one tunnel.

I have pictures on my website of the ride
http://mainelycoasters.890m.com/
as well as off ride video.
