Average as Galaxis go, especially since the track layout was the same as all the other ones. This was a tame coaster easy to take children on and mildly fun for adults. It's too bad to see this coaster go, but it has been replaced with another.
This ride after years for fun has been replaces by the Wild Mouse.
Pretty typical Galaxi which is good!
Very weak galaxi out there thats a whole lot worse than the one nearby at Palace Playland. The ride looks in need of a paint job and the ride was very slow throughout, especially during the helixes and therefore there were no laterals or Gs. Also, the drops were pretty dull on this on thanks to the really slow speed of the ride.
pales in comparison to the one down the street at Palace Playland. The only reason I dont think it was painful was that it moved so slow and was forceless even in the helices.
APPEARANCE-1 Ok let me start by saying if this was recently painted then Maine has some serious chemical imbalances in their air. They have one of these at IB and it looks a whole lot better. CAPACITY-5 Not bad they load pretty quick, but so few cars what can you do. RIDE QUALITY-3 At least it was not rough but it did seem very, very slow through the corners. FUN-4 I couldnt believe I was on it so that made it funny. RERIDE-1 NO I just see no reason especially in its current rusted out state. OVERALL-14 AVG-2.8 definately a 2.
The Galaxi is a very slow Galaxi. Like most Galaxi coasters, this one was built by SDC. Funtowns Galaxi opened in 1978, and not much has changed since it opened. The Galaxis paint job isnt anything to scream about, but it isnt that bad. Funtowns sign for the Galaxi is big, and really lights up brightly at night. The Galaxis wait usually is less than 5 minutes long, which is nice. Unlike all the other Galaxis I have gone on, this one had individual cars, and not two cars linked together. Unfortunately, the single car trains werent as good to me as the two car trains because they didnt have that extra whip effect and caused the ride to be slower. Funtowns trains look sleek, as they are colored red, yellow, or blue. Your ride on the Galaxi begins by traveling around a U-turn, and slowly, climbing up the 45ft lift hill. You then pass under a funny sign, "Check Scream Zone", and then you travel around a U-turn. Unfortunately from there the ride slowly travels through the standard Galaxi course. The cars just barely seem to make it over hills, which in turn causes a very tame and rather uneventful ride. There were no pops of air on any of the hills. Overall, Funtowns Galaxi is the worst Galaxi I have been on. I recommend the Galaxi to anyone who enjoys roller coasters. This is an excellent roller coaster for children to make the transition, from kiddie to adult coasters.
good Galaxi. most galaxis i have seen have gone to automated breaking systems. FunTown still uses manual breaks which allows for a slightly different ride each time you go on. If you ask nicely, sometimes the ride ops let you go through faster ;-)
How can you not love this Galaxi. The new paint for last season was mint. Great speed for what it is, especially in the mist at night. A Funtown classic, and well maintained. Not automated whic is a huge deal. Though it may be a "standard coaster" its my favorite Galaxi of all!
Rusted and slow, this coaster has probably seen its better days.
