#1 woodie IMO...WOW! What a ride. From the trains, to swooping drop, to all the Boulders and trees and lake, to airtime, to speed, to laterals, and to smoothness...this coaster has it al. It is certainly as close to perfection as a terrain woodie can get.

Fast, great setting, pops of air, and thrills up to the very end. I was half tempted to give this only a 9 because I was "expecting more", but decided on a 10. Had it not been for the Hype, I would have been totally been bolwn away instead of overly impressed. Because of the Hype, I was expecting Greatness... and got greatness. If I would have not known what to expect, I would have been totally and completely blown away.

What an insane ride! Does this coaster ever slow down? This is my new favorite wooden coaster. Its super smooth and nothing can beat the setting of this ride. It hugs the ground its entire course and gets very close to trees and rocks. Some of my favorite parts- the drop, first hill with the laterals, that awesome ejector air hill halfway through the ride out and the return run along the lake. This ride is perfect in every way

Confession: I live pretty close to Lake Compounce, but hadnt been because I thought "A good theme park? In CONNECTICUT?!?" But I read the reviews here and thought "Alright, Ill check out this Boulder Dash thing myself." The reviews arent just hype - it rocks. Definitely the best woodie Ive been on. Starts with a nice curving drop and maintains high speed over a lot of camel humps all the way through. And it really is carved into the side of a mountain - youre surrounded by rocks and trees and often cant see where the coaster is gonna go next. Gives that nice, woodie rattling - but not in a nasty, rough way (like, ick, the Cyclone at Six Flags New England). As an added bonus, ride at night: the whole thing is in complete darkness. Thanks for spurring me to ride this, TPC!

Beautifully executed. Perhaps the best designed wooden coaster in America. Lives up to the hype. Fun from beginning to end. Unique. No noticeable trim breaks or slow parts.

Best wooden coaster on the east coast. I rode this four times in a row without any problems. This ride is best at night because you cant see where you are going. This ride is only slightly hit by minor trim brakes, but some might not even notice them. Best in the back.

Best woodie out there. This is the best coaster on the planet, second only to SROS at SFNE. Awsome airtime, great scenery, crazy speed. Everything is perfect!

Theres good reason for this coaster to top the most respected coaster lists on the Internet and in the industry. Sub-titled "the mountain coaster", this ride is a wildly paced romp through a deliciously deceptive track packing all the punches of the best out and backs around. The coaster lift hill goes straight up and over the mountain, cutting through a narrow swath of clearing in the forest. Trees and boulders hugging closely on either side. The train levels at the top and turns right before diving into a highly banked, very steep first drop that sends the trains screaming by the station. Although officially listed as a 60-mph ride, the operators were clocking the ride at 68-mph the afternoon of our visit. Past the station, the ride hugged the mountain rising and falling, seemingly without warning or anticipation. Most coasters have a superstructure through which riders can see the layout and track of a coaster - therefore, anticipating the moves of the train. Boulder Dash rides inches from the ground and offers no sight line of what is coming next. The ride "out" is harrowing, wild and impossibly long. Riders are catapulted toward tree tops and dropped back into ravines as the train careens fast as a bullet and smoother than any woodie out there toward the turn around. The ride back is furiously paced with speed, dips, hills, and airtime. This ride is a true thrill and is deserving of the highest praise for the park owners and designers. Having recently ridden the Texas Giant, I can say the whole of Boulder Dash emulates the best of Texas Giant - namely the last screaming third of that ride as it relentlessly hurls back toward the station.
