I hate ferris wheels but the setting on this one was nice. The woods and the nice view of almost the entire park make it bearable to ride.

The Giant Wheel is Lake Compounces Chance Century Wheel. Located towards the back of the park against the mountain, the Giant Wheel looks just like any other Chance Ferris wheel. I rode this only one on a weekend and the line was about 15-20 minutes. The wait wasnt because there was a really long line (it was only half the queue) or due to a long cycle. It was the insanely slow loading process. They loaded two gondolas at a time and after loading each gondola the operator needed to give a 5-10 second speech to each car about the rules of the ride. Couldnt that be given sometime earlier? One entire cycle of loading, unloading, and the ride takes 15 minutes total, which is way too slow. Well, the ride itself provides some marvelous views of Boulder Dashs first drop, Thunder N Lightning, Down Time, Zoomerang, and various other rides. You get a really good view of the park, which saves this ride. Unfortunately, you only get 2-3 whole rotations before the ride begins to load and unload again. At least youre on the ride for quite a while to enjoy the view because of the slow loading. Also, the motor is a bit noisier than others. Overall, a good Ferris wheel that provides amazing views, but is hampered by a slow loading process. I highly recommend this ride to anyone who enjoys Ferris wheels as the views are just plain great.

OK, not great. Despite there being no line, they only let you ride for a short time. It looks ok - all white - but not extra pretty. (Nightime lights, Im told, help this.) It has a nice view of the park - youre up above Thunder n Lightning, but not DownTime, and can see parts of Boulder Dash. Plus ferris wheels have a certain romantic quality.

APPEARANCE-6 Pretty average and because of the awesome skyride the ferris wheel is not as needed for great views. CAPACITY-4 Unneccessarily slow. The wait is not worth the ride. RIDE QUALITY-7 Pretty good nothing special or terrible. FUN-7 Nice relaxing view and the breeze helped break up a hot day. RERIDE-3 Probably not since I skipped some rides and I find the skyride to be so much more fun. OVERALL-27 AVG-5.4 Pretty average ride.

This is an allright ferris wheel. I would just expect Compounce to have a giant 150 ft. ferris wheel. This one is kind of small and cheap. It was a walk on though, like evreyhting else in the park.

A standard Chance Gondola-style Ferris wheel with a good view of Boulder Dashs first drop. Unfortunately, I rode a bit too late and had poor lighting or it would have been an awesome photo. They load every single car on this one, which is rare in my experiences, but that also means that loading and unloading will take 15-20 mins while the ride will only take about 2-3, which is why a 6 will be given as opposed to a 7.

Nice Ferris Wheel with good views of the park, and it looks cool lit up at night. The gondolas are deep with tall sides and its not unnecessarily tall. Not an accident (or suicide) waiting to happen like SFNEs Colossus, in other words.

Great views of the park, perfect place for this type of ride. The motor was a bit noisy though. Overall, worth the time spent.

Its big and fairly well located, but it lacks any uniqueness or distinction.
