This coaster has a layout which makes great use of the land. Being on the hill side it really takes advantage of the changes in elevation. Coaster is very forceful in the loops. The layout is different then the other double looping coasters Schwarzkopf built.

The Mind Bender is a steel sit down roller coaster with 2 inversions. It was built in 1978. It was built by Schwarzkopf. It is 97' tall, 3,253' long. It is fast, fun, rerideable, it has a large capacity, and a long duration.

I loved it. I got some air on this ride. At times it seemed a little rough, nothing too bad. The loops were great. As well as the 2nd drop next to the waterfall. Riding through the trees was great.

Despite its age, this ride really packed a punch. The drops actually were pretty fast, but what won me over were the powerful Gs found in Schwarzkopfs trademark loops and the helixes. Many times I was pinned to my seat and just amazed by the rides power.

Date Ridden: Many times over the last 20 years. Times Ridden: Lots of times in every seat. I have a number of things to discuss regarding this wonderful old ride at my home park and I really dont know where to begin. I think Ill start with nostalgia. Growing up and visiting Six Flags was always a fun experience and I can remember the Mindbender being the featured attraction. I was too small for it and would have never ridden it anyway. As I got older and was able to ride it, it scared me to death. It was tall, fast, and the part at the top of the lift thill where the train completely stops and then creeps around the curve before dropping into the first loop is among the scariest moments you will ever find on a thrill ride. I can remember when they re-themed the ride into that of the supervillain Riddler to go along with the Batman ride next to it. The themeing still exists today as both the track and the surrounding water elements (which the ride makes extensive use of) are colored green. OK, enough nostalgia. As a current amusement park ride, Mindbender has its definite pluses. Other reviewers have noted the presence of the inversions minus the OTSRs. That is a definite plus. The loops are also very intense with centrifugal force pinning you to your seat. One loop is located directly near one of the water falls which adds to the ride visually. The ride is also very smooth with no jackhammering or karate chops to the spine present. So why only an 8? Despite the positive listed above, Mindbender is just not that great. I realize that the coaster is an engineering marvel for its time, but there is absolutely no way it is in the top 25 steel coasters in the world as the Golden Tickets continually place it. Having ridden over 200 coasters, I would place it in my top 50 but not any higher. Im going with an 8 because I feel that rides like Goliath, Apollos Chariot, and Nitro deserve 9s and this creation from the 70s is nowhere near their class. I love the Mindbender and the memories that it brings back to me, but still cant justify a higher rating despite what most critics say. Ill always ride a couple of times on each trip as the line is virtually non-existent and appreciate the place it holds in many coaster enthusiasts hearts. I just dont understand teh critical acclaim that it receives. Oh well.

A surprisingly intense and fast roller coaster that shattered my expectations. The loops were great and for an old looper like this, it was smoother than I thought it would be. Luckily for me it was walk on, and of course I took the back row. An overall great ride.

This coaster shows who was king of steel coasters in the 1970s, and it certainly wasnt Arrow Development. Where to begin? Mind Bender has a relatively simple lay out, but is more fun than the vast majority of modern coasters. Heck, I think only Goliath is better at Six Flags Over Georgia. The ride starts off with a super slow lift hill, which was annoying on a one train operation day. I wonder if theyre still using the original motor, because the train creeps up the hill and nearly stops at the top. The train turns around, and plunges into one of the most perfect coaster lay outs around. The loops are great, extremely powerful. The side loop is intense, and I got splashed a bit in the front seat by the nearby waterfall. Racing by the waterfall in the side loop is a neat and unique experience. One aspect about Mind Bender that I really enjoy is how the ride experience is vastly different depending on where you ride in the train. I did not get a chance to experience the middle rows, but I did try the front and back rows. The back row has powerful drops that rip into your stomach, and the loops are quite intense in the back. The front row is weaker through the drops and loops, but you get amazing ejector air going up the hills. Yes, this sit down looper features ejector air. Try finding that in an Arrow or B&M looper. Another amazing aspect of Mind Bender is how smooth it is. It tracks nearly as well as any B&M. This is quite a feat considering that Anton S. didnt have all the fancy CAD software that is the lifeblood of modern coaster design. There isnt a hint of roughness thanks to the barely noticeable lapbars. Going through loops without nasty OTSRs is a nice treat. I despise OTSRs. While I do not believe that Mind Bender is a top 10 ride, it is certainly a treasure that I hope Six Flags keeps running in top form for decades to come. Its excellent current condition suggests that this will be the case.

I was scared to go on looping rollercoasters before this. This Rollercoaster helped me overcome my fear

Tied wih Batman for my favorite ride this ride rocks! The back gives you the most gs so thats where I suggest to ride. The hill is very long and at the top you almost stop completely. Next you turn right and up a small hump and diving down the long hill and into a huge loop. Than up a brief hill witha great view if you look to the right, than go into my favorite part of the ride when you do a great helix which has great gs. Than you go down a great hill through a turn than down yet another hill into the final loop. After the loop you go through a small tunnel into a view over gothem and the ride is over. Its awesome.
