The queue line was wicked because I felt as if I was at some sort of rave! The indoor factor was a plus, and I had no clue what was going to happen next. I was so scared, I was shaking! It was useless to make this a bobsled, though, because I had no idea it was a bobsled until AFTER I got off the ride!

My friend had never been on an indoor coaster so I thought we should try this one. I figured it had to be good since its at Cedar Point.

The wait was moderate, about the same as most of the other rides at the park. The inside of the building screams EIGHTIES and I noticed (despite the darkness) that it was pretty dirty.

The best part is probably going up the first hill... the lights as youre climbing are cool, and then you plunge into darkness. Unfortunately thats the most excitement youll get from this ride. The rest is just gliding along through some turns and mini-drops and its over before you know it. My friend and I looked at each other at the end and were like... "Wow, um... that was worthless."

Its Disaster Transport, or as its known in the summer months "Hey, this line has AC: The Ride" This coaster is a bit of a puzzler, thats for sure. Disaster Transport was my first Bobsled coaster, so its got that going for it. I wonder to myself while in line for this what the park was thinking when they enclosed the ride and added the pinnacle of cheesy 80s theming. This theming, while making little sense, is laughably awful and downright trippy. The 3d glasses dont do much, but they can offer some entertainment while waiting in the usually long line. Im telling you, if this was outside without the air conditioning, this thing would probably be a walk-on! As it is, the line moves incredibly slowly and waits often close in on an hour. The crew is so-so, but I dont really think these types of coasters are capacity machines anyway. After boarding the bobsled trains, you head off into the darkness to begin your journey.

Disaster Transport does have a few positives, like the rides darkness which gives you no clue where you are going. I like rides that combine coaster with dark ride like this. The ride itself has some nice turns and speed that is pretty good as well. However, for as many positives I can think of, there are just as many negatives. The coaster has no real drops to speak of (perhaps one or two minor ones at best), and those nice turns start to get repetitive as that is pretty much the only element in use here. But the biggest downfall of the ride is that it is insanely SHORT. The kind of short where you look at each other and say "Huh? I waited all that time for THAT?!?" AC or not, the ride is just not worth the wait after experiencing it once. In short, Disaster Transport is the epitome of an average roller coaster. I give it some credit for being unique and trying to have some theming (though it makes very little sense), and the fact that it is a relatively rare bobsled coaster is worth a little as well. The layout is standard for a bobsled I suppose, and the speed seems to work well, but the ride is way too short and tends to get boring after the first few turns. This bizarre little coaster is worth a ride to check it out, but after that its just sort of there. And although some laughs can be had at the expense of the goofy queue, the ride itself offers low thrills and minimal fun, resulting in an average ho-hum experience on this equally ho-hum coaster. With a park like this thats full of coasters, the simple fact of the matter is that your time wasted in this line could be much better spent somewhere else.

This only ranks as a 3 because its a bobslied type coaster, other than that it offers nothing worth bragging about. Boring effects in the line, then the stupid 3d effects on the line only add to drag it down. A wintertime theme would have been better perhaps. Not worth riding except for a ride credit.

Disaster Transport was decent, but I was honestly hoping for more. Well the theming was certainly dated and my wait was pretty bad. The ride was good nonetheless. The ride was in pitch darkness for the most part, making the ride pretty surprising. The first half was really dull, but the second half was excellent as there was a good swooping drop and some really speedy and wild turns that were low-to-the-ground.

I love bobsleds, and I love dark rides. But together? Not so much. Part of the element of there being no track was lost in translation as most of the ride was pitch black. I could not really identify any of the stunts, except for like one 2-d planetoid thing. Also, my ride was made worse by some idiot who was trying to impress his girlfriend and kept shouting stupid things. However, the coaster part was fun, and the queue area as highly entertaining to watch. I greatly prefer Space Invader 2 to this anyday, but still, if you have time, be sure to check this one out.

Im giving this a 6 but to me it is more like a 5.5. This is my first indoor boblsled ride. There were some surprising elements in the dark that made this ride fun and a bit above average. There were some areas that were better lit than I would have liked. I prefer my indoor rides to be as dark as possible. There is some theming but it is not really well explained.

I thought this was going to be a "boring as crap" type ride, like the trains. I thought this was fun! It was our last ride in the park, we waited about 15 min. to get on. The first "drop" in the dark was awesome. The ride went pretty fast. It was fun! I dont get the 3-D part of the ride though, is it because the objects are third dimensional. But this was much more fun then I thought!

This ride is a so-so taboggan coaster that was rethememed some years ago as an indoor covered attraction. Unfortunately. the rides "story" is never explained which makes the ride more confusing than entertaining. Also, it said it was 3D, but no 3D glasses were available. More confusion.

I too waited thirty minutes or more for Disaster Transport. The bad 80s "futuristic" themeing in the queue was cheap and uninteresting. DT has one ridiculously long queue by the way. I never knew when I was finally going to make it to the station. At least the cheesy theming somewhat helped the time go by faster because you have something to make fun of. Once I finally climbed aboard the sled, I noticed that it was just one car where Avalanche at PKD was an entire train. Off you go into the darkness. And I have to admit its complete pitch black darkness for a moment.
After taking a few turns in the dark I remember a helix in a dimly lit themed area and that was about it. All bobsleds should not be judged based soley on just Disaster Transport. Avalanche offers some great gs for a smaller ride and what borders on a thrilling experience for a few moments. I still give it an above average rating because it is unique and somewhat fun. I just wish it was longer and better themed. Final Rating - 6.0 (Above Average)
