My first bobsled coaster. The only thing that was good was the theming and pitch-black darkness. Ugh, l waited like 30 minutes just to ride my first bobsleder. The layout consisted of mostly bobsled-like turns and small drops. Short and fairly out-of-date. Im just glad that Ive ridden at least one bobsleder.

Basically one bizarrely prolonged "WTF"...To make things worse, I forced myself to wait 40 minutes for this thing simply to get the coaster count and to allow myself to write this pointless review. I did like the fact that there are moments of pitch blackness, but overall, the ride was just a big..."huh?"

I could cut this ride a break for the theming, but that is not going to happen. Bobsled rides have no great elements and are very short and boring. I wouldnt mind if they did take this out. Maybe since now they own the paramount parks they could put a ride like outer limits in instead

This ride used to be so COOL and fun (around 1994).
The experience was you enter the dark, cool air conditioned queuing area where you see all of the bots, the pulley with the carts above you, and red glowing lights, and the blacklight as you enter the cars (which I think is still there.)
Then, once you got on the ride I swear (but remember its been 13 years), you are going up that first hill and there was a really sweet multicolored disco light at the top (and I think there was music that died with the disco light as you approached the top of the hill?) Then yes, I agree with whomever else said that the main drops on the ride were done in pitch black; now you can see everything. Not as fun

When the ride was the way I described it, it was a much more fun, mysterious "Space-like" experience; everything from the pitch-dark downhills to the lighting effects.
The current fluorescent paint everywhere seems like a way to cover up some of the more interesting lighting/electrical effects the ride used to have before they stripped it all down for a couple of years, and then changed to add black lighted colors.

Can anyone tell I really miss the "old Disaster Transport?"

Disaster Transport is one of my favorite non-destination coasters at the park. Obviously it doesnt have the huge drops and speed that MF and Magnum have, but then again, it doesnt have to. It doesnt pretend to be something its not. What it is though, is a fun coaster that has moments of total darkness. It starts off a little slow, but the pace picks up substantially during the 2nd half of the ride. I agree the theming could be better, I simply dont get the "Welcome to Alaska" line at the end. But, if the line is less than 25 minutes, its certainly worth the wait.
I just made a trip to Cedar Point and dropped my rating for this ride from a 7 to a 5. It was much slower in the middle of the ride than I remembered it being. Im not sure if the car came to a complete stop before or not in the middle room with the helix. Also, it seemed it was much brighter in there this time. That room was entirely lit up, Im sure it used to be much darker.

Im willing to nicely award this with a six rating. Although short, and slightly boring at certain sections, it is fun screaming profanities in the dark with your friends. The queue is a big dissapointment, as more theming could have easily improved the waiting experience. A slightly fun little bobsled, but could have definately contained some effects without buying those 3D glasses, which, I must ask, does anyone here actually purchase?

This ride was a big disappointment for me. I was anxious for my first bobsled ride and thought it was a great idea to turn it into a 3-D ride. First, bobsleds have no speed, no good elements that give any sort of thrill, and overall no fun. Next, the 3-D effects add nothing to the ride. They are kind-of neat to see in the line, but they are terrible actually on the ride. The building and idea looks like it would be fun, but it actually is a big bust.

Disaster Transport was alright. It was the first bobsled coaster that Ive ever been on & going through some of those turns while being enclosed in an air-conditioned dark building was kinda surprising. The whole layouts too short, but its still a ride worth going on once just to add to your ride tracker. I didnt really notice any 3-D effects on the ride b/c I didnt really see the 3-D glasses being sold during the ride.

Interesting Concept, this enclosed Bob Sled coaster, and well executed. The theming inside was kind of neat too. But the ride was very short. Also, the 3D effects that are there can only be seen with the 3D glasses... glasses that they were charging $1 to buy (Shame on CP for that one!)

Hmm. The theming is random and doesnt make any sense to me, but it seemed that Cedar Point didnt spend any effort to explain it, which hurt the ride a lot. Also the coaster layout itslef was weak and didnt have any decent drops or thrills; even being in the dark this ride was completely predictable. However, the pitch-black moments were cool, and while short, it was still fun and worth a laugh at least.
