First of all let me say the ride is amazing!
After an hour or so wait you are sitting in a coaster seat anticipating a quick launch. After the ride operator says all the "rules," the ride takes off. You find yourself suddenly flying up a vertical spiraling spike then shooting back down through the station up into a vertical spike. After the pass the station you find yourself launching faster, causing you to reach the max height in the spiral spike. Again, shooting through the station and moving your way upward the vertical spike. Suddenly, the ride haults at the top of the vertical spike. You are held up at the top for a couple of seconds! Then you find yourself plummeting back through the station into the spiral. On the way back down you begin to decrease in speed and arrive into the station. After the ride is over you think "wicked..."
Basically the same as all Impulse coasters. Wicked Twister may have had two spinning towers but you dont really notice it that much. If you like Impulse coasters or have never been on impulse coasters, try it. Otherwise, go for a better ride.
V2 - Vertical Velocity, is a coaster that is a lot of fun to ride with a terrific launch and a great compliment to Six Flags Great Americas already exemplary line-up of coasters. The launch is both fast and intense, and the extra power that they provide the train with during the mid-section of the ride really makes this thing haul. The holding brake is also fun, and better experienced in the back (extra height), but the ending of the track on the front spike is better from the front, so take your pick or try them both. One tip - try to ride early in the day, since its obviously a shuttle with only one train and the line can build quickly.
It is a really good ride.
Although not a bad ride I prefer the two twisting spikes that you find on Wicked Twister to the singte straight spike and one twisted spike. It is fun in the front row when you get held in the spike.
Good view of the sky when youre sitting in the first 3 rows of this ride. This is a favorite at Great America. The ride is so fast and sort of intense. But the stall isnt as scary as many people try to make it.
An intense thrill ride unlike any other. The launch is awesome, but the ride is nothing unless you are sitting in the front row. This is one of the few rides were I can say that it is a completly different experience from the front and any other row. The break section at the end will scare you, even if you know it is coming.
Sure its a bit short, but this ride can be really awesome. But there are quite a few things that make it a bit lower than it might seem I would rate it. One of the biggest probs is the fact that they really do not load this thing quickly at all, and what is seemingly a short line can really turn into a long wait. There is also the simple fact that it is hard to decide where to sit. Its always nice in the back for getting high air on the rear spike, but the back really blows through the heartline spike, which is where the front takes it. But the middle is nothing special, so its really hard to decide. At least on Wicked Twister you get good air and twist in the back seat. But again, this can be a really enjoyable ride, and it really is powerful. I wait for a ride each visit, and it is definitely worth it. A bit short, but really high-octane fun for the most part.
Its a rush! I like it, but it was better the first time I rode. After that I was raving about it.
Noat as good as superman ultimate flight at SFWoA. The location in the park doesnt help. If the line is long just leave it be and come back later.
