The ride itself is good, but it's a double-decker carousel, and rarely has a line.
How could you not? This double-decker carousel is mandatory. For everyone.
This is a centerpiece of the park. It is a double decker Columbia Carousel. It is fun, very nicely maintained, and themed very well. It has a long ride duration, and large capacity. It was built in the 1970's and is a double decker carousel with horses on top and other animals below it. It was built by Chance.
Double Decker Carousel. Cool. Kind of weak. Goes in a circle, and the horses go up and down. I guess its an icon to the park and entrance to the park. It also has its own stage. Other than that, it was weak.
I love this ride!! The top is my fav.!!!! This is a fun little Carousel!!!!
it stunk a lot!!!! i give it a thumbs down
Overrated piece of crap - thats my thoughts on the ride. From a distance, it looks really cool. It dominates the entrance plaza and really is a great focal point, something you remember years later. Being double decker was cool, something I have never actually ridden (I merely watched the triple decker at IAAPA last year). Once I board, I am forced to put on the seatbelt. LAME, but I will move on. The machine starts going, and takes its sweet time to get up to speed. Well, thats what I thought at least... fact is that its top speed is slower than my walking speed, which is absolutely pathetic. A machine can only gain so many points on looks alone, which, also werent as good as billed. Upon closer inspection while riding, the pieces were in *decent* condition. The machine definately needs some cosmetic work, but I think the paramount concern for now is changin operations. To go that slow is just ludicrous, and then they slap a belt on you like some toddler? Talk about insulting..
The way it looks is awsome but I dont really like merry go rounds but everything was painted so nice and everything
Times ridden: 1 ~ Ride experience: 9 ~ Appearance: 9 ~ Fun factor: medium ~ Nausea factor: low ~ Reride factor: low ~ Evaluation: Greeting all those who pass through the park gates is this marvelous double-decker carousel named Columbia. Built by Chance in the mid 70s, and opened along with the park, Columbia looks fantastic, especially at night. Its double-deck seating allows for passengers to choose to sit either on the lower level, or the unique second level. I choose the later. Riding on top, riders will get a terrific view of the main gate area and fountain, while not being surrounded by many wandering guests making their way through the park. Riding Columbia was a unique experience I wont forget, afterall, these are pretty rare to come by.
This is a fantastic carousel. This is the first thing I noticed upon entering the park. It stands proudly behind the pond. I can picture myself as an old man sitting on a bench all day under a nice tree near the pond. The whole atmosphere around the carousel is that great. I forgot I was in a themepark. The carousel is also in fantastic condition. There was no paint peeling or any wood chipping. Its obvious that six flags takes great care of this. Riding up top was an extremely different experience then I had expected. You get a very good view. Jeez, why hasnt adriahna been on this yet?
