I find the resraints on the Vekoma Flying Dutchman more comfortable than the B&Ms, especially when going up the hill. However the Vekomas do lack the Pretzel Loops (a very intense element) found on the B&Ms. An Ok ride but not worthy of a reride. This coaster was extremely slow loading with one train operation and only one side of the loading station operating. I dont even know where second train was. The ride staff also let as many people pour into the station as possible making for a huge back-up and confusion in the station.
This would have been an 9, before I rode S:UF @ SFOG. This was my first flying coaster and I thought the concept was long overdue. They had a pretty cool way to load you in but it turned out to be more of a hassle than a thrilling experience. However, the ride layout made up for the comfort level of the restraints. I enjoyed the several disorienting sensations that you felt throughout the ride. I wish this ride had the comfortable restraints that S:UF has and I wish S:UF had this rides layout after the Pretzel Loop, then I would rank both rides a 10 for sure.
Definately an unique experience, however after three or four rides, I just couldnt take it anymore. Worth a ride or two, but probably not worth hour long waits, nor worth re-rides.
WOW I LOVE THIS RIDE.IT FEELS LIKE YOU`RE FLYING.
I WENT ON THIS WITH MY MOM AND MY BEST FRIEND AND WE ALL AGREE THAT X-FLIGHT DESERVES A 10
The fly to lay parts of this ride are great. Especially the first one from the top of the lift hill. The loop is almost as intense as the pretzel on S:UF. Lame loading procedures, as they wont even let you wear a hat in the que line. Luckily when I went there was no line, but it would suck to not have a hat while waiting. Also, keep your change in a zipper pocket, as going up the lift all your coins will fall out.
Most intense coaster in the park. The Gs durring the loop are insane. Great ride especially in front row. I recomend riding it later in the day since this seems to be one of those coasters that need to "warm up". Great ride to ride at night.
Not bad but Id much prefer the B&M version to this. I hate the way that they brake the trains at the end but the ride up to that point is pretty good.
Worth a few rides per visit. Back in 2001, all my friends were telling me how awesome X-Flight was and I was pumped to ride my first flying coaster but ended up being pretty dissapointed. Besides the flying sensation, the horseshoe curve, and the vertical loop, this ride doesnt have much. However, the flying sensation is cool enough to keep this ride at an 8 out of 10.
I didnt feel safe at all in this coaster. It has such a long wait time. The hill is ave. and the speed is nothing to talk about. IT is just a ave ride.
THIS RIDE IS AWESOME! Once you get over the fear that the restraint will break, and just have fun, this is truly a unique ride. The lift hill is kind of small for my taste, but that first turn on the outside of the track is NUTS! The only problem was that the day I went, they were only running one train. At one point, the Dominator(aka Batman Knight Flight) had a much longer line but less of a wait! But besides that, the X-flight ranks 2nd on my top ten list.
