A fun little ride fo rchildren, but very little movement and much more geared towards children than
When I looked at the online listed and saw caterpillar I was thrilled. When I got to the park I was so disappointed. Its barley more then a kiddie ride with no speed and terrible movement. Why this park with limited space would waist room on so many kiddie rides I will never know.
York’s Wild Kingdom is home to a little known Caterpillar ride. Yes, I know that’s an interesting prospect, as I as well as many other theme park enthusiasts are madly in love with these classic attractions thanks to the fun ride they provide despite their age. However, they are a rarity nowadays, and it sure is a shame that York’s unfortunately isn’t home to the classic version, but instead a cheap rip-off of one. Really, it’s just a glorified kiddie ride and nothing else.
Located towards the York Beach side of the park, the Caterpillar definitely looks very kid-friendly with the cartoonish caterpillar train; however, other than that the park made no attempt at all to theme the attraction or make it fit in with the park. At the very least some landscaping or plants could have been placed around the attraction, but no. If the park was aiming for a concrete jungle, they achieved it with flying colors. Don’t at all worry about lines, since like most kiddie rides, no line ever exists. Not only is this because of the attraction’s rather low popularity, but also because of its pretty high capacity.
Once seated in the scorching hot and painful train (like I said, the attraction literally bakes in the steaming, hot sun), the attraction began and really was nothing more than a simple kiddie ride, consisting of a small, circular track where the caterpillar slowly travels round and round, gently bouncing up and down. Really the attraction provided no entertainment at all for me, and I was really embarrassed that I even chose to ride this simply pathetic attraction. The cycle was pretty long though, but I wanted to get off a few seconds into the ride. Yeah, it’s that bad!
The Caterpillar, while it shares the same name as the beloved classic attraction, is nowhere nearly as entertaining or nostalgic. This kiddie ride really is an all-around poor experience for adults, though kids did seem to have a blast on it. In fact, I’m not even sure if the park even allows adults on this anymore, but trust me, you aren’t at all missing out on anything, except for some embarrassment.
what an extereemly supid ride, how could u give this a 10
A definite classic! The first Caterpillar made in years, this type of ride, minus the fiberglass, was a hit at parks. This is great!
