Fun, but short shot tower.
Double Shot was rather good. When I went on it, though, I was disappointed when we spent a lot of time waiting at the bottom, and then we got ONE good launch, and then they lowered us down and that was it. I hope to go on it another time when it'.s running as it should.
My second S&S tower, I actually got a better ride on this compared to the much taller one at Dorney. I wasn't stapled as much, and got really good pops of air at the top of both launches. A fun ride that proves bigger isn't always better.
I saw double shot and thought I new what to expect. The color scheme of this ride is great. black tower with red Seats and piping. But the ride was less then spectacular. The best part is the No warning launch you cant even hear the brakes release. but after that the ride goes down hill. The launch is a bit weak with some pop at the top but not as solid as a double shot tower can give. The down fall offered some pressure but also weak. The ride then goes right into the toilet. The return launch is pitiful and offered no sensation at the top. then dose a little yo-yo action to the ground. not the best tower and possibly worth a skip when your at the park especially if your paying per ride.
I loved the Double Shot at Rye Playland and its my favorite ride at Rye Playland. Not as good as Canobies Star Blaster, this black, S&S Double Shot tower is towards the left of the park entrance. A walk-on every time I rode it, Double Shot loaded and unloaded very quickly. Riding in red seats, Double Shot seats 3 riders on each side. Just before the ride begins, the ride shoot some smoke out from the base of the ride. Though it looks cool from while not on the ride, its sort of bothersome while on the ride. Once the ride begins, you are slowly hoisted up to a launch position. You have no warning when you will launch so it can be sudden. The quick launch is very strong for a small tower like this (85ft tall). At the top you get some insane ejector air. Then you plummet back down getting a brief stomach dropping sensation and launched back up again. You get some more outstanding air-time and then drop back down. Before the ride ends you bounce up and down gradually lowering back to ground level. Overall, an excellent S&S Double Shot and the best ride at Rye Playland. I highly recommend Double Shot for thrill-seekers who enjoy any drop towers. Double Shot isnt as tall as some other models, this is a great tower to introduce people to drop towers with.
Great views and weightlessness! Its small, but its nothing to get rid of. My #2 ride at Playland.
This ride would have been more exciting if the tower was twice as tall.
But if you stick your feet and hands out straight in front of you you get some great air at the top.
Its tall and gives you a lot of air time but only half a minute long and sends you up twice (thats why its called the Double Shot). Maybe if you stay up there longer to create suspense. Overall good ride, but not better than Disneys Tower of Terror, which I gave a 10.
A decent launch tower. It isnt nearly as good as Tower of Terror @ WDW, Drop Zone @ PCW, or Dr. Dooms Fearfall @ IOA, but its still pretty fun. The launch is still very suprising!
This ride was decent, but i enjoyed scream at sfnme, dooms fearfall at IOA, and Starblaster @ Canobie better.
