This is a standard toboggan, and unfortunately the standard toboggan is terrible. The lift was unique as always, but the cars were claustrophobic. I liked the tight helix down the tower, but the transition to the bunny hills gave a violent jolt and the final bunny hills were pretty rough.

Like many early Chance Rides attractions, the Toboggan imparts a distinct impression of danger. Im no biophysicist, but I would wager that the seating position on this ride - with the rider seated on the hard floor of the car, legs straight out in front like a three-year-old watching TV - transfers ride forces directly to the spinal column more efficiently than any other production model coaster. If that alone doesnt do the trick, the head clearance to the top of the enclosed car, even for my own short torso, is about four inches, virtually guaranteeing trauma to the cranium and thoracic vertebrae as the pod negotiates the series of short bunny hops at the bottom of the tower. Moreover, the Toboggan has no lift hill to speak of, only a lift chain. If that were to snap during the 90-degree ascent to the spiraling track, the unfortunate rider would take the impact of the eventual collision with the next cued-up car directly on the back of his skull and spine, unable to maneuver into a less vulnerable position because of the huge, over-stuffed restraint that completely immobilizes ones lower body when the hatch comes down. If youve ever wanted to know what those unfortunate Soviet canines felt like in the Sputnik capsules before they burned up during re-entry, look no further than the Tobbogan.

But for all that, indeed, because of that, the Tobaggan has personality, and personality, as Jules Winnfield will tell you, goes a long way. I like the look of this ride, especially when its lit up after dark. I also like how utterly imperiled the lift tower makes you feel and the moment of relief that comes as youre dumped out onto the track at the top. I sort of admire Chance Rides for building what amounts to a big, scary decoration that not incidentally allows us to augment our track records and the parks to augment their coaster counts with an attraction that offers a combination of high visibility and a small footprint, but not much else.

Riding the Tobbogan is fun because its weird, but truthfully, its not particularly exciting once you get past the lift-tower and the initial emergence into daylight. The spiral is kind of slow, and I personally dont get to enjoy much airtime during the final trip around the perimeter, since I usually have at least one hand braced against the ceiling to force myself down against the floor so I dont crack the top of my head. If I had to use one word to sum up the experience, it would be "clausterphobic." Still, Ill alpine that youve got nothing to luge by giving Tobbogan a whirl.

I was very afraid for my life in line for this ride. Its 100% portable and it looks like it might fall apart. The cars go down about as slow as possible, then gain tons of momentum on the bunny hops, which, the first one, is made from still banked track. And the cars? Well, Ill just avoid going over those... The whole ride just looks like a death trap. The lift hill is in complete darkness in a small car, in a small probably vertical tunnel, except for the small flashing lights in the tunnel and the opening at the top. It goes SO slow down the twisted hill... During the first (banked) bunny hop, I was trying to hold my head straight, as I read about whiplash and stuff, but it wasnt too uncomfortable. I bet the ride operators were laughing at me though, they stop you while theyre waiting for more people to get on, right in between the two ride operators. And they stare at you. I was so relieved, just trying to relax and being so happy to still be alive. I have a picture or a few pictures of the ride that Ill put up if anyone wants to see them. The last time I rode the Toboggan was on June 7, 2006.

My second toboggan coaster. Pretty rough, pretty short, but a different coaster experience. If you get a chance try this ride and have never tried a toboggan coaster before, cross it off your list and never ride one again.

I found it to be more enjoyable and comfortable than the one at Conneaut Lake but that is more a reflection of how bad the one at CLP really is since Im only giving this one a 3. At least this one has clean and painted cars and looks safer. I didnt find the bunny hoop as painful, but maybe thats because it was worse at CLP.

Wow, where do I begin. This ride gets a 4 simply out of uniqueness. The lift hill and cars are real cool but after that, the ride sucks, its slow, painful, and boring. Not worth it.

It is a steel toboggan roller coaster. It was built by Chance in 1971. It is 45' tall, 450' long. It is fast, fun, rerideable, it has a large capacity, and a long duration.

Ouch! Quite painful during the last dip, but an interesting nevertheless. You go straight up a tunnel, flat on your back, and then wind around the structure you originally went up. Next comes the painful bunny hill, that is gaurenteed to give you at least minor whiplash. Then you crawl back to the station where the ride operators pry the top off of your vehicle, and you will probably be quite thankful to be back on land once again.

Click, Clack, Click, Clack. The echo of this monstrously uncomfortable train as you rise up the inner shaft like bile ready to spew from a 14-year-old after too many beers. Then round, and round, and round, until you get the kerplunk of nasty little bunny hills. Crap ride that I loved as a kid.

In this park, its the #3 ride behind the Dips and Skyliner.
