I found this flume to be pretty fun. The Wild Thornberries theming was very good, especially the elephant at the end which sprayed me on all of my rides. The smaller drops were fun and the layout was nice. While the final drop was pretty small, it was fairly steep and I got quite wet at the bottom.
Wild Thornberrys River Adventure is a log flume ride. It is average speed, it is fun, rerideable, it has a large capacity, and a long duration. This is a very good water flume ride it has alot of theming and scenery from Nickelodeon. It is a must ride at PCW.
I am not a big fan of getting wet at a theme park but my kids wanted to go on this so I had no choice. It turns out to be a pretty solid flume ride. It has really nice theming using the Wild Thornberrys from Nickelodeon. You head out to the first lift hill and you go down a little drop, but it gets you going pretty fast. You carreen around a couple of turns and down another drop, around a few more turns and then up another hill. This is a pretty tall drop and you are going pretty fast. The splashdown isnt huge(good for me) but does get you somewhat wet. The kids really liked this ride and they are the target audience. This is a very good flume.
A rather fun flume ride. Nice speed. Nice theeming.
Despite the Nickelodeon theming to the ride, the only thing that has changed is the queue line building, entrance and the ending as you round back towards the entrance. Kings Islands Thornberrys is superior to Carowinds version. But, withstanding all the scenery comparisons, its still a nice ride when you want to cool off on those hot Carolina days, and believe me, they get unbearable sometimes.
Great log flume with lots of theming and scenery.
Pretty fun, but theres no theming! Absolutely none! Very, very old. When me and my friend went to step into the flume, The bottom was all wet, and it had a huge hole in it. you could sink in that thing! 2 drops, the 1st one has a little strait-away, then the second 44 foot drop, which is fairly fun! But Ive been spoiled with other much better flumes (with theming) so Ill give it a 5
This flume is fun but it needs a bit of work, the queue house is incredibly cramped and the ride has a lot of grinding. The main drop is nice but if you want to stay dry put the weight in the back.
Not bad for 30 years old, great final splash. TLC would help indeed.
***2003 Update***
New Theming and Refurbishment make a huge difference. Carowinds spent a lot of money on the Wild Thornberrys theme. They also made some needed repairs. This flume looks and rides great. Prepare to get wet. They also have on-ride photos available after the ride now. The kids said we didnt get wet enough the first time so we had to ride it twice to get really soaked. LOL
