To have a good log fume, you have to have the element of surprise, for example, on the Jurassic Park one in IOA, there is a part in which a huge metal box with a "velociraptor" in it nearly falls on your head. The second thing is that you have to have clues, but obvious ones that the drop is comeing, like i DUdley do right u have the the evergoing fight leading to a climax, and the final theing needed is multiple drops l;ike splash mountain and dudley do right.

A long ride with good theming and a big drop in a tunnel so its dark, which makes it appear faster and scarier.

In mu opinion a good log flume would have many drops must of which are unknow to riders. sudden drops into black ness are the best ones. Also a good flume would have one extremly steep and high drop in the end.

You do know that flumes don't have any restraints, right? If you have a "extremely steep" drop, you can fall out.

Ripsaw Falls has an "extremely steep" final drop, and I don't think anyone has fallen out of it yet

If no one has fallen out, then it's not an "extremely steep" drop.

my favorite ride was jurassic park river adventure at us&ioa! that was the best damn ride out of all of the flume rides! the drop was 86ft. and the drop was very cool, it totally got me soaked, especcially my little cousin who was sitting in the front row! he loved it very much and wanted to go on it again and again, just like me! that the best damn ride ever and if anyone thinks its lame or boring, they can just kiss my a@%! so if you ever go to ioa, make sure to go on jpra! its totally the bomb and i'd definatly give it a 10!

I didn't get that wet on Jurassic Park. Most of the water goes to the sides of the boat. It's still a great ride though

The Log Jammer is great. If only it had more theming, it would be one of my favorites.

Best log flumes:

- Log Flume at Knoebels, great tunnels, setting, and two drops. It's also taken at a fast speed.

- Splash Mountain, need I say more? Great drop, themeing, fun all around.

- They log flume at SFGAdv near Medusa. It was bumpy and needed more water in it but other than that it was unique. I hesitate to put it on here but I liked how it was elevated most of the time.

A short line and guaranteed splash make a log flume great!

My favorite (and I don't know if it is still around in the same form) was at the southern end of the pier at Seaside Heights. This was the first one that actually put plexiglass at the bottom of the hill and the water splashed right back on to you. It was a given that you would get drenched.

I like Knoebel's Log Flume, you get pretty wet and the surrounding trees and tunnel make it a good shady ride. They made the flume cutting down minimal trees.

Also, don't rock the log!!! That's what a couple of friends and I did. They will yell at you and could ban you from the ride!

yeah, and there are even some "drops" in the rapids haha, only thing is they should really remove all of that gum up on top of the secound hill, its not very attractive :-/
My favorite would have to be Splash Mountain because I liked the storyline/characters and it was a nice long ride. It also has that nice double-down section which was pretty cool!

It has to be a long, fast, wet, taff, and a lot of air time. I really like the air time on log flumes because of the lac of restraints

Trees a log flume shoudl bo placed in a good wooded area and stay close to the ground. as if your floting down a river.

A good log flume should be placed in a heavily wooded area, use a park's natural terrain to its advantage, have a high capacity, a nice storyline, some theming, a ride that's completely hidden, and at least two drops (at least one giant drop, that gets you very wet).

I'd look at Boat Chute @ Lake Winnie. It's not a log flume in the general definition of a log flume, but this could apply to log flumes as well. The ride starts with a long, winding tunnel. It is pitch black in there and fairly level so you don't move very fast. The boats keep clanking into the metal sounds and with the long tunnel it makes an eerie sound, and since you have no idea how long until you get out of the dark, it can really freak some people out. I mean, it is a great effect and I would love to see a log flume with a similar 3-5 minute pitch black metal tunnel

I really enjoy the combo of flume and dark ride. However the only thing I really hate are the flumes that lift you up, then you slowly bounce around with nothing to really look at, then down a single drop. I just want my flume to be a nice mix of scenary and some drops. Knoebls, Canobie, Hershey all have good traditional flumes.

The Coal Cracker at Hersheypark wasn't as good as I thought it would be, but I still liked it.

It doesn't need a tunnel (most tunnels suck) but if they go with one build it like Lake Winnie's owner did.

Maybe a tunnel at the bottom of the drop would work. Then all the water would splash right towards you.

So you want that Tunnel of Love thing going on.

Not a bad idea but I'm sure that the pitch blackness become a problem at times with the kids.

I don't want a tunnel of love. Anyway, flumes are family rides, and pitch black tunnels would possibly scare children.

Here's my side: Lake Winnie has operated the Boat Chute with the tunnel for 80 years. The tunnel is not hidden whatsoever, ad you literally board at the entrance. A sign near the entrance announces the presence of a tunnel. Children of all ages have ridden the tunnel with no problem. I say if they like it then they'll ride it, if they are intimidated by a couple of minutes of darnkness then they don't ride.

And yes me and my GF love the dark rides
