Hidden jewel of Lakemont. This 1960 John Allen creation was saved from the wrecking ball and moved to Lakemont. The first hill will just rip you out of your seat if you sit in the back. The ride is airtime deluxe and provides a thoroughly enjoyable course. Get in and just ride and ride again and ride again. Operators don’t make you get off if there is no line.

The first time I rode it, my friend and I sat in the front, and WOW, it had just a spectacular feeling of airtime on the first drop and throughout the ride.

Back at the station we switched to the back, and man, what a mistake that was. The bottom of the first drop had such wiplash that it knocked the wind out of us. Painful. This ride is a jem, if you stick to the front of the train. Stay away from the back seats.

As a side note, this ride was moved to Lakemont in 1989 from a park in New York.

UPDATE: Rode it several times this September, and it looks like they did some work to it, but it needs some more work. The train was in 100% working order, and the ride was smoother then before, and it ran faster. The top of the first hill has great airtime, better then ever. The problem (well, maybe it is a problem ) is that the station brakes tend to fail. It only runs with one train, so there is no safety concern, you just end up doing another circuit.

Ill tell you this coaster was not the classic coaster I was expecting, it was a run-down piece of trash. We had to switch seats twice because the lap bars wouldnt work properly! The Jack Rabbit is my number 2 coaster, so I dont mind unimpressive facts, but this had very low enjoyment. I love classic coasters, but this I am ashamed to have in the same category as the greats.

A nice wooden coaster, a little rough and not very big but it is the most thrilling ride at Lakemont

Nice woodie, but a little slow. Your tailbone will take a beating if you ride in the back seat. The coaster is very well kept. How many other coasters let you watch a ballgame while you ride it?

Good ride in the front with some good airtime but a little slow. However, when I rode in the back the lapbar slammed hard into my stomach. I even had a bruise. I couldnt enjoy the rest of the ride. Good ride but I recommend the front.

It doesnt look like much. Its a fairly average looking mid double out and back coaster, unique only for the dog leg turn. Going up the lift it is still very average… the bench seats and one position lap bars are nice. At the top of the lift you do a slight dip just to get you moving, then to a turn to the left… and then it hits the fan. The biggest surprise of airtime I have experienced came on this one. From there on in to the final station, this little gem flies. Bonus for the fact that if it is not busy, the operators will either send the ride through again if no one wants off or to change seats, or they will let you change seats and then send it on through. UPDATE: (7/11/2002) The past two years have not treated this coaster kindly. The back seat is "unusable" (they dont let anyone ride in it) and the turn around closest to the station shakes so much that I was actually wondering if the structure was going to hold together.

A nice small woodie. Unusual in that the best air time is up front.
