Shockwave was definately one of the best coasters at Great America. I unfortunately only got to ride it once in the 01 season. The seven inversions rocked. Its rough, but not nearly as much as everyone says it is, to me thats half the fun of riding a coaster anyways! I suppose they had to replace it because it lost its popularity, but it certainly was, and always will be classic.

Great ride. The only reason it has an 8 and not a 10 is because of the roughness. There were a couple sections that my head was hittin the restraint pretty good, and the cars arent exactly great, but once you look past that all, this is a great ride.

There was only one thing I had to say about this ride when I got off of it: Ouch. Although this ride was REALLY rough, it had a lot of inversions, which I really like.

Granted the rattled ride, this coaster was once a landmark and I still think that it was remarkable. The inversions werent the best - but the combo of them together and the sheer height make this ride fun - who said a lil rattlin on a steel is a bad thing - we put up with it on woodies!

It wasnt spectacular, especially because of how quickly it aged, but it was a classic, and from the time I was 5 and first went to great america until now, when it is gone, I always would stare in awe at its magnificent size, and hear the constant screams of people on it. It was shaky, it was bumpy, it certainly could have used a few more banked curves, but for the longest time, it WAS great america. A good ride, with a large fanbase, and you could always walk on. You certainly cant beat that. To whatever theme park its going to, youre getting a heck of a ride. Im gonna miss you old friend....

I loved this ride. It has one of my favorite elemtets of any coaster. The traditional tight vertical loop high in the sky. Its like a rocket ride up to it. Plus theres two more consecutively.

Being season pass holders,my girlfriend and I made near-weekly trips to SFGam to watch the dismantling of Shockwave. What a beautiful sight, watching that steel monstrosity come down in pieces. I have nothing but bad memories of this vicious,skull-rattling "amusement" ride. I cherish my collection of pictures taken of the two of us lounging upon the fully-accessible chunks of track laid out in the parking lot. We managed to get a quite a few, before being temporarily chased off by a SF tow truck driver. A tow truck driver? What do you care? Its not like were going to cart away several tons of blue, rusty track in the back of my Neon. Although,it would make a nice living room centerpiece...
Anyway,to sum it all up...good riddance to bad rubbish.
