I really enoyoyed this ride alot. . .the luanch is semi-intense and the ride itself is fun. . the forces arent that extreme except the really intense loop and some good airtime. I wish the drops were steeper, but the ride does have an amazing capacity, and the soundtrack is really great.

California Screamin is an outstanding roller coaster both to look at and to ride. It spans the entire back side of the Paradise Pier section of the park, with two or three trains at any given time navigating the steel-that-looks-like-wood course. The launch is great, set right on the water. It is followed by an awesome hill and drop, with another equally large hill and drop coming later. There are also a couple of spirals, the loop around the Mickey ears, and the very fun triple jump that actually gives some decent Intamin airtime. This is a very long ride, which is also super smooth and amazingly efficient. One more thing that has to be mentioned is the soundtrack. There is a great musical track synched with the manuevers of the ride. My one complaint is that I always tend to end up on the train that does not have its speakers working. This coaster is certainly a 10 even without the soundtrack, but it does frustrate me to hear all of the other trains pull into and out of the station playing music only to have mine be silent. I am not recommending pulling those trains, as I do not want to reduce capacity. But I am requesting that those speakers get fixed! At any rate, I will not end the review on a negative note. This is a great coaster ride for the Disneyland Resort. Unquestionably the biggest, baddest coaster on property, yet appropriate enough for the kids as well as die-hard enthusiasts alike. It appears that the theming of this one and the Sun Wheel will flip-flop during the make-over of California Adventure. While the Sun Wheel will lose its sun emblem and instead get a giant Mickey face, the coaster loop will lose its Mickey ears and instead get a sun emblem. I kind of like the Mickey ears, so I hope all the new theming works out.

This is my favorite ride yet at DCA. Its fun to ride day and night, and the music goes great as the ride is in progress.

I thought that the music in the headrests was very cool and set the tone for the whole ride. the launch was pretty cool and it just got better from there. There was some good air-time and there was some good Gs. It was silky smooth and you could ride it all day long. The only down fall was that it didnt really do any of those things great it just did them good enough.....that is why I give it a 9. The lights at night really make it look cool. I would compare California Screamin to a tamer version of Rock N Rollercoaster at MGM.

Fun ride, love the music that goes with it. Disney did a great job to bring back a classic ride in a new wat. I wish they themed it more then they did but that can always be done later.

As you can probably guess from my screen name, Im not exactly an adrenaline junkie...I have severe...er...well, Im afraid of heights. California Screamin was only my second inverting ride in my life. (My first was the extremely lackluster Windjammer at Knotts.) The first time I went on it, I was scared as hell. When I came off, I was cracking up like a maniac--I suppose that was the first real adrenaline rush I had ever gotten. Anyway, this ride would have been fantastic even with a standard chain-lift, but the LIM launch is simply mind-blowing. (I havent been on Xcelerator, though, so take my words with a grain of salt.) No space is wasted on this ride--it pulls Gs every second. The loop is a bit of a surprise--you barely have a second to prepare after coming around a corner, and you take it surprisingly fast. As others have mentioned, the bunny hops near the end are great...and check out the on-ride photo station for some laughs--I dont think Disney took into mind how contorted the riders faces would be as their picture was taken! Four bits of advice, though: One: Always, ALWAYS wait for the front seat. Unless theres a breakdown, its usually only a minute or two longer. Two: RIDE IT AT NIGHT. Its still enjoyable in the daytime, but its mind-blowing in the dark with all of Paradise Pier lit up. Three: If they know, ask the ride attendants which trains have the background music running--its also an essential part of the ride. Four: What the heck are you still doing reading this review?! Get off your butt and RIDE THIS THING!

This is one of my top 10 rides. I love it. Disney did a great job. This is one of Disneys best new rides. The launch is great and something sort of new for Disney. The hills were nice especially the bunny hops. I liked how Disney used new technology on the lift system (no chain) and the helixes were perfect. I also liked the design to make it look wooden but used steel as well as made it go around Maliboomer. The loop was a nice touch and with the addition of the "not-so-hidden" Mickey, it made the ride more appealing. This ride does have long waits. I wish the queue was bigger and the ride could handel more people but the line moves fast. DO NOT MISS!

While I really liked the ride, I was overly impressed. The launch is fun, and the air on the first hill you get great air. It has good pacing and some decent gs in areas, but some lackluster areas (The flat turn near the station). The loop was shockingly intense, and the bunny hops give some great pops of air, but Im a fan of more sustained air. Still a great little ride by disney.
