The Comet always will be 1 of my favorites even though there are plenty of better, funner coasters out there.!.!.!
The Comet is the first and best wooden coaster I have ever been on. It is smooth, fast and provides TONS of airtime. Unfortunatley, the Comet is in a park that is far from good. The Great Escape is too big and lacks good rides. The Comet is the only thing that keeps the Great Escape on the map. Hopefully The Comet will reamin at The Great Escape and thrill riders for many, many years.
Went upstate a month ago, dropped by for just one reason: The Comet. The park pretty much sucks when you realize a 2,000 year old ride is its best, just like Astroland sucks. As I was saying, First Cyclone, then Comet. I didnt find this as rough and exhilarating as the Cyclone and not special at all, but its brilliant for a old woodie. Just not the Cyclone, hehe.
All Hail the Cyclone
I absolutly love this Roller Coaster, Mind you I do enjoy the Stemin Demon which is out front of the Great Escape, but The Comet is always a big part of my trip there. Everyone should treat themselves to this classic coaster.
This ride is great! I rode it in the last car and it was great, the airtime was very good and their was a lot of it, and it has great laterals.
A truly great coater with a large amount of airtime and speed that never lets up! Everyone must try to get to the Great Escape to ride this classic.
Stright from the golden age of coasters comes this airtime filled masterpiece. Great classic design that offers something for any coaster fan.
It took me a while to plan a trip up here and I just rode it a couple of weeks ago. It was an amazing coaster. It has so much history to it. It is not the best wooden coaster in the statebut its truly unforgettable. The best thing about this ride was the airtime.
My first "Big" woodie, (my first was dragon coaster) its so much fun! its a classic and i like it.
Although this coaster offers a merely decent initial drop, its double-out-and-back design leaves plenty of track for more thrills (of which there are plenty) later in the ride. There are some turns interspersed within the series of hills, so that the rider will suddenly (and perhaps unexpectedly) be thrown against the side of the train or the seat divider in the middle of enjoying the airtime. However, as a veteran rider of this coaster, I view this nuance as an integral part of the experience that you get while on this ride. At the same time, though, it can be slightly annoying, which prevents me from rating this as a 10. Nevertheless, the ride is excellent overall and is a must-ride if you are at The Great Escape.
