Date Ridden: October of 2007. Times Ridden: 2 Excellent prototype with a beautiful view at the top. To me, drop rides are more about the view at the top than the drop itself so most of them are so similar. At the top, you can see the lights of Vegas and the long strand of car lights on the freeway.Good luck catching this thing open however. So far, in about a dozen trips to Bufalo Bills, it has only been open once as it experiences lots of down time due to age and the high winds.

S&S first turbo drop. Literally located in the middle of nowhere, Turbo Drop just stood out as I approached Buffalo Bills (there was another huge yellow coaster too, but thats for a different review). Keep in mind before riding that I was totally unaware that this was the turbo drop that would spring so many others around the world. After the suspense at the top of the tower, the ride suddenly plunged and my reaction when the ride reached the bottom, "That was it?" Every other S&S tower Ive been on have provided a really good thrill, but this one was far weaker than the others, not even providing any air at all. Later when reading others opinions of this I realized why it was so mediocre compared to others. It was the prototype. As much as I want to grant this ride an alibi for its poorer ride, I will be rate this ride for what it is- a mediocre drop tower.

Being a prototype installation, Turbo Drop to its credit was still pretty good. The climb and pause at the top provided great views of the area, but the drop wasnt as sudden as the drop on others Ive been on. The drop had a quick burst of air-time, but it wasnt as much as Ive experienced on other S&S turbo drops.

As one approaches Buffalo Bills, two rides grab your eye from miles away - the towering coaster Desperado, and Turbo Drop, an S&S drop tower that I do believe was the first of its kind. Granted, many newer versions of this type of ride have graced parks all across the nation. However, I found Turbo Drop to still be a good thrill, with a fairly decent drop and moderate amounts of airtime. The ride slowly climbs to the top, where it pauses for several seconds before thrusting riders down (giving some fairly good airtime) before popping back up the tower and then coming to rest back at the base of the tower. While a modest thrill in comparison to some of the newer versions, I give this ride an extra nudge in my rating for being the prototype installation from a company that would soon after boom into one of the top thrill ride manufacturers in the world. Without the prototype, we would not have the towering multi-tower thrillers that populate many parks skylines.

This is probably the worst S&S tower I have ever been on - there was VERY little air involved, it just seemed like an exaggerated elevator.

I love this ride far more than Sling Shot (Las Vegas) and Double Shot (Rye Playland) because you get a better view and the airtime is more xtreme. But the ride just barely missed my top 10 non-coaster ride list. Its a clone, but it was the first of its kind. When a company makes a prototype coaster, the prototype is often overshadowed by other rides of its kind. Anyways, it seems that all of the rides at Buffalo Bills have airtime, including this, Desperado, Frog Hopper, and even Adventure Canyon, with its drop. As I was approaching Buffalo Bills with my parents, we saw a familiar attraction that looked like Tower of Fear @ Funtown Pier. I wanted to try this after Desperado, but it was experiencing dowtime. Later, I rode it, and it was great. Airtime never gets old.

I dont really like these S&S towers, but this one is a standout. The first drop was very good, and the bounce back up provided some nice airtime. Another plus is that this was the first S&S tower made. However, the price was pretty steep for just one ride which was all I really wanted.

Turbo Drop is a Vertical Tower that is nicely themed, fast, fun, rerideable, it has a large capacity, and long ride duration.

I didnt find anything special with this than all of the other S&S towers. The airtime wasnt all that great too.
