Good ride. Painful on the legs on the helixes. Smoother than most wooden coasters Ive been on.

Half-way through SOB I began blinking my eyes madly, hoping I would rematerialize at the station platform. This ride is BRUTAL. From the moment youre pinned in the seat, legs cramping from the tight restraint system, to the double helix Satan himself designed, SOB really is an SOB. Youve got to be worried when the on-ride photo is snapped at the approach to the lift hill! If the camera were anywhere else, courtrooms nationwide would be swamped by physical and mental abuse cases from this ride alone. The loop is smooth, but no cause for celebration -- it merely serves as a respite from the punishment. Ive ridden tons of coasters and generally like the rough-and-tumble of a good woodie but MY GOD this was too much to bear. Funny enough I DID buy a set of drink coasters becuase the SOB logo is so cool. Also, I think everyone should ride it and is welcome to his/her own opinion. Like The Beast, Ill have to wait 18 years to ride SOB again -- long after its been loaded up with trim breaks! PKI - heres a new slogan for your T-Shirts: "Son of Beast - You dont RIDE it, you SURVIVE it!"

Beautiful to look at, long to wait for, and a little painful. Its not as bad as everyone says but it certainly aint great! If you have to have a feed wheel at the top of the lift hill to get the train over then there is definately something wrong! A 200ft wooden coaster was not bright but it didnt turn out near as bad as it could have.

It hurt bad. I hear some say on certain days it doesnt and were you sit makes a difference. But this was the first ride or rollercoaster Ive ever been on and sincerely wanted off now. My headache lasted a couple hours and Im not a wimp with the head banging. Could seriously injure people during normal operation. The 2 is for the loop which is steel and smooth.

I had very high hopes for this coaster, and nearly every one of them was dissapointing. First entering the poorly designed, uncormfortable seats was a big turn off. The drop and loop are fun, but that is about it. The ride violently shoves your legs into the restraints and causes pain all over. Ride only if the line is short.

Its big, has a loop and a big drop other than that its not that great. Plus the trains are awful.

Boring...
Wow! A 218-foot wood coaster...
WITH A LOOP! Then why was I
checking my watch while riding it?
Granted, the loop was fun. Well
executed, smooth... Too bad the
rest of the coaster wasnt. The
sheer height should have provided
the motivation to create a
masterpiece, as there would be
enough energy to propel this thing
through countless manuevers,
twists, turns, bunny hops and and
head chops. Instead we got two
huge helixes with a loop in
between. A two-trick pony with the
height and inversion, it disappoints
in all other coaster aspects. The
choreography is non-existent, no
grace and no surprises. The best
coaster element is the inital drop
out of the station. This
disappointment is only
compounded by the horrible rolling
stock. Tip: ride in a middle seat.
Its less brutal and your kidneys
will thank you for not brutalising
them over an axle. They are even
more uncomfortable the Gerstlauer
trains. Holiday World replaced The
Legends trains with PTCs after
only two years. (Although, that was
already a world class coaster.)
HINT! HINT! Hopefully, Paramount
and KI will cease going after the
records and instead create
coasters that are not only more
economical but fun to ride as well.
With the hideously unrideable
Beast and SOB as their major

I adore SOB, but keep in mind that on wooden coasters I prefer horizontal gs- and this ride has EXTREAM gs. I have ridden up to six times in a row and come off injury free- so I get tired of hearing dry babies wine about how rough it is. This ride is great- and I celebrate its creation!

I got onto SoB really wanting to like this coaster, I mean look at the stats, first wooden hyper, only wooden coaster with a loop, this look like a great coaster. Getting into the car, I found my first major problem, this must have to smallest, tightest cars I have ever been in. I mean, I have been on small fammily coasters with bigger cars. I sat down, pulled down the lap bar, and didnt breath the whole ride. I could not move my legs, at all, they were pinned between the lapbar supports, and my feet were crushed against this foot rest it had. It losses several points for the poor design of these cars.

The ride itself, well if you are a fan of mega positive Gs, you will love this ride. It litarally crushes you into the cramped seat at the bottom of the hills. The first drop is great, and the loop happens so fast you are though it and done before you know it. It has lots of speed, and is rough, but not too rough. It has no air time that I could tell, but then again I couldnt move anyway.

While waiting in line for my first ride in 2000, every train that came back had people applauding and laughing. When I rode it, I found out why - it was a great ride! However, in 2001, it seems they added foot rests to the cars. I could be wrong, but I dont remember them being there in 2000. I still really enjoy the ride, but its cramped even for someone who is 54" like me! Many people have complained about it being rough. On one ride this year, I came off of it with a headache and feeling beat up. I actually thought it was rougher this year. However, when I rode it again on another day, it was fine. Not sure why it seemed so rough on that first ride.
