The WORSE coaster I have rode yet. Way too rough of a ride to be fun. Have rode it 5 times and everytime came off hurting, hopefully the new changes will make it better because the repairs they did last year (2006) didnt make it smoother. Hopefully with the new cars things will be better and the loop wasnt that big of a deal so I wont miss it as you get better loops on Vortex and Flight of Fear.

This ride definitely has a good out of control woody feeling. From all the shaking and rattling of the track it feels like all the bolts may shake loose at once. It has a huge lift hill, a loop, and a unique layout. If it wasnt so rough, I may consider giving it an 8.

I cannot explain how rough this ride is! It doesnt help that I rode it in the back...anyway, the first drop is painful as you jackhammer all the way down, and then the helixes, or whatever they are, are painful on the curves. The best part was the loop. I mean, when on the chain, youre like...wow...this is going to be crazy, because it looks like a hyper coaster ride...but it would be better if it were smoother. Not to mention the trains suck!

Fix it. This is the ride we all love to hate, but the lay out is actually pretty interesting. It would be a great twister if it didnt jackhammer incessantly. The recent accident came as no surprise. Anything this rough was obviously destined for severe mechanical failure. I disagree with the idea that woodies cant be this big and still be rideable. A steel/wood hybrid structure could possibly pull off a 200 ft. drop well on a wooden track coaster. Also, Intamins prefabricated woodies hold a lot of promise for larger woodies that would be similar to Son of Beast.

Fun ride but a little rough if u ask me. Im afraid now because of the malfunction sending 27 people to the hospital.

I am so torn on this coaster. First things first. Before I rode this I considered a looping wood coaster a gimick.... and I still do. There is no reason to put a loop on a wood coaster... wood coasters dont need loops to be thrilling if built right. It is only for the novelty of it or the record books ("worlds only looping wooden roller coaster!" So, lets take the loop out of it. This coaster suffers from Quantity over Quality. Its layout is good (even with out the loop) and it would be a great coaster if it were not so darned big! When will they learn... with wood coasters, the bigger you go, the rougher they get. Leave the 200ft mark for steel. Bulding wooden coasters that tall only serves to create rough, almost unrideable monstrosities. A coaster with the same general layout as SOB, but only 100 ft tall and minus the loop, could be a GREAT coaster. As it is however, SOB is only one of two roller coasters that I have said "Never Again" (the defunct neck breaker Steel Phantom being the other). I still say that all designers of wood coasters should have Scott Rutherfords quote from his book The American Roller Coaster framed and hanging on their wall... "Medium is a rare and wonderful thing." As it is, the Initials SOB may acutally stand for Son of Beast... but after riding it, they could stand for their other more common meaning... as in "Im never going to ride that s.o.b again."

A very rough woodie not offering any kind of a good thrill for the beating you take. Only bigger than the original beast, not better. It fell well below my expectations for being the tallest and fastest wood coaster.

I HATED this ride. It was pure torture. I could feel my head banging around in my skull the whole time. My boyfriend and I were wailing in pain all through it and continued wailing in pain for a while afterwards. I wouldnt ride it again if you paid me.

I like KI but I hated this ride. It hurt sooo bad I could barely keep my head up. The whole time after the first drop, instead of enjoying the ride, I was deciding how to position myself best to avoid more pain. The appearance of the roller coaster is great, it looks intimidating, and the sign is cool...unfortunately the only way this ride could be enjoyable would be to pads and a helmet.

Beats the heck out of you. I was so excited since I love the Beast but this is just not all it is cracked up to be. I love the way the structure looks and the amount the space it takes up looks amazing. It gets you so pumped for an amazing ride, but instead disappointment follows. I dont think I like the layout, but my short term memory gets erased by the end! Just not as good as his daddy!
