The only bad thing about this ride was that going over the bunny hills at the end, my friend got his nuts smashed on the bar. I took off a point for him. Also, it took so long to go up the hill! Other than that, a great ride!
I remember riding this coaster all the time when I was little and we just returned a couple years ago and it began to get a lot more rough than I remember. Its still a lot of fun, but not as exciting as some of the much bigger rides from B&M and Intamin. The nostalgia of the ride makes it a bigger winner than anything and it can be overrated a lot like the CI Cyclone. Its still a cool ride at night and the lines arent too bad any more.
Oh Magnum, how do i love thee, let me count the ways....! Im in love with Magnum. This coaster has magic to it...i dont know if its the fact that its right next to the water or what, but this ride is just amazing. Great air-time and great speed :-D
Magnum was my first hyper and is still my favorite. Its got a classic layout, an incredible view, and tons of air time and speed. Its a little rough, but I actually think the roughness adds to the ride. Magnum wouldnt be Magnum if it didnt through you around a little bit. However, I do think that Magnum needs new, bigger trains with MF style lapbars. This would fix a lot of the complaints. If you say this ride sucks, youre spoiled, and possibly a big wimp who cant handle a little roughness. Sorry.
This ride is still a classic. MF have outdone it, but the great airtime, still pretty damn big first drop and the intense tunnels still make it one of the best coasters ever.
I had some pretty rough rides in 2000, then I was quite impressed in 2001, but now it seems to have evened out in 2002 and if it stays like this forever, Ill be perfectly cool with it. Looking out over the lake and the wind in your face is where the ride does its best parts and while I still dont like the turnaround, the huge first two drops and the bunny hills are great! Beautiful at night!
Fun ride, but restraints hurt your legs. Great ride though!
Great ride. Best coaster on the planet for air time.
The only reason that I cant give Magnum a 10, is because its not Millenium Force. MF redefines what it means to be a 10. I was very pleased that I first rode Magnum before MF, because I got to thoroughly enjoy the experience. It is a great, great coaster--not only because of its thrilling first drop, but also the subsequent hills and bunny hops. The hops in the tunnels are especially effective in delivering the thrills. I later rode Magnum after MF, and it didnt seem to pack quite the same punch. Somehow Magnums first drop loses more than a little luster once youve stared death in the face on Millenium Force. So, if possible, try to save the Force until after youve enjoyed this classic.
How can Magnum have such a low rating?! I love this coaster, if only for the reason that it might have that low rating- its definitely a coaster classic, and it being the third best coaster in the world has to count for something! Everything about this coaster is positive, except if youre carrying a camera on the ride, dont ride in any of the last two cars of any of the trains- once I was going over one of the bunny hops and it flew off into the grass somewhere! My favorite part of the ride would be, well, the whole thing- the long lift, the sweet first drop, the high-airtime second hill, the tunnels, the pretzel loop (I have some good pictures of that at cedarpointpics.tripod.com) and especially the bunny hops to the station. The whole ride rocks. Whoevers ruining the rating by giving it a low score must not appreciate coaster classics too much (Arrow Dynamics rocks!)
