This carousel was very nicely themed when I visited the park. It was fun, rerideable, had a large capacity. It also ran clockwise instead of counter clockwise. When I visited it was in good shape and nicely maintained. It is a must ride if you are a carousel buff.
Ho hum, same old same old.
Neat carousel, but poorly maintained. The ride is an English ride, and thus runs clockwise rather then counter-clockwise like all American carousels. That alone makes it very unusual. Unfortunatly the ride is in bad shape, and getting worse. The animals (this ride features horses as well as a line of roosters) are chipping paint all over, and breaking is some places. The horses horsehair tails are long gone. The ride also runs poorly, the motion of the horses is very jerky, and the ride on the whole is quite slow.
It would be nice to see this restored, I can only hope that this is part of the parks three year capital improvements plan, but as of now it is in pretty sad shape.
A boring ride for people older than 10 but its great for the younger kids.
A classic Carousel. What can I say other than that?
10 points points for scenery, but 6 points it is BOOOOOORRRRRIIINNGGG! only good for little kids.
A beautiful, well maintained Frederick Savage machine, in a great spot - sadly, no band organ. Also, its run a bit slow. However, the opportunity to ride an English carousel is a real treat, and besides, some are two-seaters, so you can share with a pal.
A typical carosel, nothing more, nothing less. This carosel does look nice but doesnt really excite you more than most other carosels. If you are a coaster fan bypass this for bigger and better rides.
A real treat, this old-time former traveling carousel from England is a rare find. Well-worth seeking out if you are a carousel buff. Here is my top 10 carousels list: (1) Derby Racer -- Rye (NY) Playland; (2) Cedar Downs Racing Derby -- Cedar Point; (3) Carousel -- Rye (NY) Playland; (4) Carousel -- Palisades Center Mall (West Nyack, NY); (5) Carousel -- Lake Compounce (Bristol, CT); (6) Carousel -- Flushing Meadows Park (Queens, NY); (7) Carousel -- Central Park, NY ( Carousel -- Trimpers Amusements (Ocean City, MD); (9) Grand Carousel -- Columbus (OH) Zoo; (10) Savage Gallopers Carousel -- Six Flags Great Adventure (Jackson, NJ).
this fits well in its location a first for six flags
