Classic, classic, classic. Although since its opening many larger coasters have been out, the first drop and the loop is still intense -- even by todays standards. But the rest of the ride is a little less intense and is generally slower, apart from the helix finale which is Schwarzkopf brilliance.
Not some of Antons best work. Its jerky and slow. Its like there is braking every 5 ft. of track.
Coming from a fan of Schwarzkopfs, I have to say that I see SooperDooperLooper as an Anton in Distress. The ride does what it was meant to do: invert you, and then have enough track to enable two (and maybe three) train operations. Well, the loop, in standard Schwarzkopf fashio, was intense, and fun in the lapbar-only trains. The ride does slow down a lot from there, sadly, and gets a bit boring. The tunnel was a suprise element, but the ride just lost its luster. I thought the lift hill was kinda cool, where you can see Schwarzkopf stole ideas from his portable models, but the ride in the end was just average. Also, one last con: no airtime, which with the lap bars is what usually makes Schwarzkopfs so good. In the end, its an ok ride but the trains always boost it a point. Its hard to believe that there was only one year between this and Mindbender.
Great starter looper for kids starting to enjoy coasters. Very intense loop makes it have high G forces. Couldve been longer & had more elements, but a great classic looper nevertheless & should be ridden at least once when going to Hersheypark.
This ride was intimidating to me back when I was little, and I believe was still the only looping roller coaster in the east coast. Now though, it is so not up to par. It is really neat that the park has it just to see how coasters have evolved over time, but I think it is time to see this one go. It was a walk on the last time I went on there. The queue is like really long for it too. Maybe they could take some of that out and add something there, because it took forever to get to the station, to just walk on to the first car.
This was the biggest surprise of my trip to Hersheypark. The terrain, the drop, and the loop are all just great. I loved the tunnel and the unique layout. However, the brake hill really hurts the pacing towards the end, so it looses a couple of points for that
I really enjoyed this ride as it is a classic. The loop is really big and awsome! The helix is also pretty cool as it gets pretty low to the ground. This rides also had no lines so ride it as many times as you want!
You gotta love Anton. Some people I rode with werent impressed, but I told them you have to remember that back in the 70s, this would have rocked their world. Anytime you get a loop without horse collars is a plus in my book.
This ride was awesome it was one of the best rides i have ever been on i have been going to Hershey Park alomost every summer bu this ride was the first looping roller coaster I have ever been on i think it is awesome
A good fist drop with a great loop. I like how they went through the loop afterwards and into a tunnel. The hilix was good as well. Still, they could have made it longer and more intense.
