I was walking though Hershey right after getting off of Comet. I had seen pictures of SDL online but had no idea of what it really looked like. I was walking past Great Bear, when it came roaring by. I had never ridden an inverted coaster before. Actaully this was my first park outside of Lake Compounce and Six Flags. Every time I went to SFNE Mind Eraser was always broken, so I hadnt ridden and Inverts yett, but that is for a different review. So I was walking up to the bulding, there was a little sign with an arrow that read Sooper Dooper-
Looper
I thought this was funny so I took a picute of it.
Anyway I got in the line and walked around the station and as I was walking by a duck and her babies were walking along the queue line. My friend made a bad joke and said "I dont think you guys are tall enough to ride" I gave him a dirty look and kept walking. At the same time a train cam roaring on to the breaks and there was a loud bang/sqweal sound from the break run. The ducks ran away after that. OK to the ride. Well I got in the front seat and noticed that the lift hill was also a turn. So you start out and go up the lift hill and take a small right turn. You go up a slow steep lift and then get to the top make a small drop, then a left turn for the drop. The drop is very smooth, but like all Schwarzkopf coasters has amazing force. Then you slowly start to go vertical and then you are upside down. Because the look isnt eliptical, it will push you down if you arnt holding on. Then its up and over the mid way though a trim break which really doesnt do anything around and down back though the loop. Then you go up and make a right turn over the Coal Cracker then in to a tunnel, its not scary, but loud. then you pop out the other side up a hill hit a trim which isnt on then don the hill a tight left turn then up a helix to the right then past the Comet on to the break run, and if your lucky great bear will fly over.

Over all its not really exciting, but for 1977 it was the El Toro of today. I give it a ten, because it is some of Schwarzkopfs better work and was my 1st Schwarzkopf ever. The layout isnt really crazy but the helix at the end makes up for the slow ride. Over all a 10 and one of my favorite rides at the park.

Alsome! Great if you want to try upsidedown coasters or like it wild but not too wild. This is my only looping coaster I have ever been on and could not believe how fun it was to go upside down. A must ride classic. One of the oldest looping rides the the U.S.!!!!! Little advise: if you hate the brakes at the end, grab the hand rail in frount of you and push your whole body back to the headrest. This prevent will your head or body from being thrown foward.

Good for a first time loop coaster, very fun. I love it mainly because of the name... :-D

Not the best, but not bad at all. If you like the Revolution at Six Flags Magic Mountain, youll love this ride, which is identical.

I cant believe how good this ride was considering its age. Smooth loop and good speed and drop. 1point off for roughness midway through the ride.

A classic looper that never has a line. I do think it needs a paint job. A pretty good ride that has its good moments.

In my opinion, Hershey’s Sooperdooperlooper is the Revolution of the East Coast. Both are Schwarzkopf terrain coasters with one loop. Additionally, both are similar in the fact that their popularity has dwindled a good deal over the years amongst park goers simply due to the ride’s age and newer, more thrilling coasters being erected. Having said that, the Sooperdooperlooper is still a very enjoyable coaster that honestly hasn’t shown any signs of aging in my opinion. Located in Comet Hollow, the Sooperdooperlooper’s layout looks awfully intriguing off-ride. While portions of the ride’s blue track can be seen, such as the first drop and famous loop, other parts are concealed by the numerous trees running along the perimeter of the park. From the station, one can see part of the ride’s second half and brake run as well; however, future riders have very little time to spend gazing at the layout since the Sooperdooperlooper is almost always a walk-on. This is partially due to declining ridership, but the primary reasons why the line is so short are incredibly fast dispatches, 2 train operations, and a simple lap bar restraint. At worst, I think I have had to wait 10 minutes, but that was because Hershey was only running one train on this particular day. Honestly, all seats provide an almost identical ride, but my personal favorite is the front solely because of the better view. As a plus, one typically only has to wait one or two additional trains, which is definitely a rarity for most roller coasters since the front usually has a far longer wait. Once dispatched, the Sooperdooperlooper begins with a slow climb up the lift. Following that is a tight turn and then riders are treated to the Sooperdooperlooper’s first drop. While not particularly steep, the first drop generates a good deal of speed. Immediately after the first drop is the ride’s signature loop. Like all Schwarzkopf loopers, this loop is incredibly forceful and pins me to my seat every time. Afterwards is a large, sweeping turn that eventually threads through the loop. Then, the Sooperdooperlooper creeps into a very dark tunnel. Ultimately, nothing really happens in this tunnel, but I guarantee you someone on your train will be screaming. After exiting the tunnel, the Sooperdooperlooper meanders back and forth for a bit before hitting an unfortunately strong trim brake. Ultimately, this proves to be my only gripe with the ride since it slows the train down pretty significantly. Following this brake is a quick drop, and following that is the ride’s finale: a forceful downward helix. While the train enters the helix at fairly low speeds, by the end of the helix the riders are experiencing some pretty strong Gs. Then, the Sooperdooperlooper zooms into the brake run, ending the ride. Despite its age, the Sooperdooperlooper is still one of the better attractions at Hersheypark. What the ride lacks for in height and speed is made up for by an incredibly unique layout. Thankfully, the ride has aged very well and is remarkably smooth from start to finish thanks to the absence of those pesky over-the-shoulder restraints. A visit to Hersheypark is incomplete for a coaster enthusiast without a ride on the Sooperdooperlooper since the ride quite frankly is sooper dooper. Favorite Seat: Front (1:1) Best Part: Loop

The loop on this ride is a great one, and it has a nice layout, and not that long of a wait, depending on the time.

Its a very jerky ride and thats the downfall of the ride and after the loop the ride is basically over..It goes very slow and is a very small loop so the loop is kinda fun! I am going to give it a 6 for now..

I came away pleasantly surprised with this little Schwarzkopf. Of course, it is a very mild coaster and is more than likely directed towards the younger crowd, but it still offers fun for everybody. The loop was nice, but Laser at Dorney has the edge on it. The layout was interesting, with a few nice helices here and there and solid banking. I only felt compelled to ride it once, but it was still a good ride. If nothing else interests you about it, SooperDooperLooper does provide some good views of Great Bear
