Review of Pteranodon Flyers @ Islands of Adventure

I went on this ride in the parks "soft" opening. The cars swing and make you feel like you are going to fly off the ride. It was surprisingly fun, but deffinitly not worth the wait. The reason it is a "kids only" ride is because of the loading time. It only allows 200 riders per hour! In comparison the Hulk is somewhere between 1,000 and 3,000. If they let adults on without having a kid, the wait would be very, very, very, very long. Poor planning by Universal.

Thx. I was right on! 2000 is the average of 1000 and 3000.

My friend who works at Universal said they never intended the Flyers to be an "adult" ride. I guess hind sight is 20/20 but I guess this served as a good chicken ride for those afraid of the bigger coasters...

Well I can tell you that they tested it in the soft opening as an adult ride because I rode it with my dad. I have a feeling your friend is wrong because it really isnt a childrens ride. I can see adults riding this ride and having fun. I think they just made the restrictions because of the lines from the soft opening, but maybe Im wrong.

The friend I have there is about as high up as you can go, so Im sure the information pertianining to the intend of the ride is correct. You are correct, the ride was opened to everyone when the park opened, with the expectiation that primarirly kids would want to ride it, which wasnt the case, as pointed out by the long lines. The rule of hacing a kid with you, in essence enforced Universals expectation when designing the ride.

I stand corrected. In any case Universal should have designed the ride better so that everyone could go on. It isnt a horrible ride, its lines are just too long.

Please, Sephitoth7, Pteradon Flyers was a complete prototype. This was Setpoints first ride. The original idea was going to be great. Disney bouhgt the company. The ride was abandoned. Setpoint redesigned it and did the best they could. I mean look at Super Saturator, it was thier second and it is awesome. Prototypes are meant to have problems. Thats why they are built. TOGO_Fan
