Review of Cyclone @ Six Flags New England

very very intense. on the last turn, i thought i was gonna die. this ride has very good ejector airtime, intense laterals, and good headchopers. the only minus is the ride is probably the roughest coaster i have ever been on. i am very excitied for the news of it being retracked for 2002. it will definatly improve this already very good ride.

In order to be retracked in 2002 they would have had to start by now. maybe/hopefully 2003

I forget... was this ride this rough when it had the morgan trains on the track??
Paul on 4/12/2002 10:35:21 AM said:
actually, it wasnt as rough when it had the morgans...it was just intense. These PTC trains are just are wayy to heavy, so basically Its rough because of the trains. They are Tearing up the coaster, it needs a re tracking.
daptwa on 4/12/2002 10:49:49 AM said:
Why did they change the trains then?? They need to retrack it or change the trains again.

becaue they thought PTC trains would be better for the coaster...since Morgan trains have NO Padding..You came off with some bruises..but it wasnt so damn rough.

It seems to me that you come out with more bruises now than you ever would with the morgan trains.

Actually I thought the Morgan trains were the worst idea the old "Riverside" management ever had. Cyclone was ridiculously painful with the Morgans. Any slight improvement in tracking was lost by the fact the Cyclone is totally intense and tosses its passengers around, and unpadded Morgan trains made it unbareable. Glad to have the PTCs back, which the Cyclone was built for in mind in the first place.

They should have just added some padding to the morgans.I agree that this coaster is made for ptc trains but its just way too rought with these trains

Some times roughness helps a roller coaster. If this ride was as smooth as Medusa, would anyone care about it? Roughness is why people still ride shorter and slower wooden coasters. (This is just my opinion.)

I agree with you but look at the line for the cyclone. People are not riding it. Its one thing for a ride to rough but then theres the cyclone. When the rides so rough that people are not riding it theres a problem and something has to be done. Maybe it might be time to look at using that space for another wooden coaster (CCI).

I have often seen 1/2 hour waits on this ride and it is over-shaddowed by the Superman and Scream. It is also important to remember this ride is way off towards the far edge of the park.

I agree that six flags will never tear down the cyclone. But I think it should be possibly considered. I know its a great coaster, you know its a great coaster but if no one is riding it the general attendence does not agree with us. Ultimatly it comes down to money. If that space could be used for something else that brings in more revenue Six Flags might consider it. I dont the reason for no one riding this coaster has anything to do with it being at the end of the park. If thats the case Batman The Dark Knight Will be a complete flop.
