Review of Great Movie Ride, The @ Disney-MGM Studios
0 Rating Posted by: Princess on 10/18/2007 9:31:00 PM
The Great Movie Ride was a unique dark ride. Commanding the center of the park, the Great Movie Ride is housed in a giant and very nice looking building. Thanks to its very high capacity, I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes for this. I dont remember too much about this ride regarding the details of the scenes, but I remember that there were some really cool ones (like the Wizard of Oz, which is one of my all-time favorites) and some rather dull ones. The ride was pretty long too if I remember correctly. It would have been better if Disney redid the ride with their newer movies to make it more entertaining and up to date if you ask me. This certainly is worth a ride if you enjoy classic movies.

I think it is up for a makeover since MGM is leaving at the first of the year. Most likely it will get some Disney movies in it.

Which is a waist. It is the Great movie ride. not whatever is trendy right now movie ride. Most of the movies Disney has released rescantly will not stand the test of time.

^ Agreed, but I do think Disney could add some new scenes with some of their recent and very successful films like Toy Story and Finding Nemo, just to name a few.

no. they have a toy story ride coming and a Finding nemo ride at Epcot. Live action movies. some of the scenes are I agree Dull and should be redone. some of the movies picked arent as great as they want to make then out to be. Tarzan for example. you could create 1-2 new scenes. maybe something dealing with Epics. Disney did put out Armageddon, The patriot, and pearl harbor.

I think with the contract with MGM that expires at the first of the year, Disney may have to replace some scenes. So they will have to replace them with something.

All the older movies are not copyrighted, not all of them are MGM. There are general references to styles like western and gangster. MGM doesnt have rights to most of the bigger movies they use. like Raiders, Aliens, etc.
