for a very snappy and memorable coaster ride, the racer must be experienced from the rear car. it is otherwise, as others stated, a tame ride. there are no large drops and its not a speed machine. but place yourself in the very back seat and get that unique "they dont makem like they used to" short but sweet and fun classic racing coaster ride. i personally love john millers coaster designs. i mean, the man was just visionary. his genius is on evidence throughout racers layout. you never lose steam due to the clever use of terrain. miller has the dips bottoming out lower and lower as the ride goes, which results in a ride that smokes right to the final brakes. additionally, there are at least five good moments of air in the back seat and the final dip before the station is one of those old fashioned ejector seat drops that designers just cant seem to figure out how to do right these days. its a happy ending to a cool ride. the restoration of the station to its original look is totally inspired and it filled me with fantasies of those very well-attired patrons of the late 20s and 30s lining up to ride. i wish the original trains were still running, because they look awesome from the photos ive seen - unbroken bench types which were "updated" in the 60s with a whimsical polka-dot paint job. in any event, the PTC trains do the trick and have seat belt buckles that remind me of the seat belt buckles from a 1970s buick. bottom line - i love this ride!! i rode it about 10 times the day i was there. racer also gets extra points for the very clever "mobius strip" design. miller, in a very subtle and sneaky way, "folded" the mobius strip of the racer by mirror-splitting the trains out of the station, much like the rebel yell, but then thereafter runs the trains parallel to each other, like colossus, thus never returning them to the configuration they had when they began in the station. so you finish on the opposite side you began. i thought about it and i couldnt remember any track crossovers, but then it hit me. brilliant!
