I am certainly struggling with this rating. After my first ride, I would have went with an 8, maybe even a 7 just based on initial reactions and that first ride. However, this was without my glasses. On my second (of five total) rides, I wore my glasses and was blown away by the show that Universal had put together with Premier. I had heard all of the hype last year about how great it would be, but after the hype died with a lot of let downs, I wasnt overly excited to ride it as I was with the Hulk and Spiderman in my first trip three years ago. However, I was impressed from the first ride, which certainly met my expectations, and the four rides on my third day in the park really put it together for me. This cant be rated as a roller coaster, because it is much more than that, while the coaster needs to be taken into consideration too. The queue is a really nice setup and detailed quite well, but dont ask about the guy walking around with the plastic bug. The special effects are simply amazing, the best on earth, which is what I expected and Universal delivered. The first use of fire was really good, but the one that stands out the most is later in the ride, something that was extremely realistic and authentic. It was truly amazing... the animitronics were again at the top of the industry standards with amazing life-like shape and texture and movements. The lighting and sound were great as well, as was the use of smoke effects, most notably involved in the launches with the greens and oranges. Thats just the beginning, there is a coaster wrapped between the special effects and different scenes. The coaster featured akward restraints, but I was able to deal with it. The lapbars were great for two wicked moments of airtime, one on the first launch and the other midway through the course, the second of which is hard to beat. The layout may only be some twists and turns, but the lateral movement, especially on the first drop, are quite amazing, and it truly provides a great little ride, as does the dive into the smoke-filled room later on. Overall, a great little launch coaster placed on the best special effects set on earth. I am reserved with my 10s... and the show/effects would have definately gotten a 10, but the ride itself, though suprise-filled and stil quite good, only would get an 8 or 9. I wasnt sure at first if it would, but Revenge of the Mummy is good enough for my Top 10.Update: Im giving it a 10 and Im gonna move it up some more in my Top 10
