Review of Ripsaw Falls @ Islands of Adventure
0 Rating Posted by: tacoking on 2/24/2003 8:43:00 PM
What ride pops into your head when I say log flume? Well, if it isnt Splash Mountain it should be Dudley Do Right. Everything about it is just amazing. It all adds up to deliver what may very well be the best water ride on the planet. The only edge that Splash Mountain has on it is there there are no "dry spots" in the theming on Splash. That is the only complaint I can find on Dudley, there are, as I said, "dry spots". I am not talking about the parts of the adventure where you are out side, but there are parts of the ride where all you see is plain blue or black wall.

But, when you are not looking at those walls, you are looking at amazing theming and getting involved in what is a hilarious story - if you appreciate that kind of humor. Around the outside of the mountain, there is always something to look at. Some crazy statue of Dudley, or a shaft that is extremely "kaboomable".

this is a great ride, and if you look at the other reviews, just about everyone else liked it more than you. you give too much credit to disney, at least put JP in front of SM.....i mean, i can see putting JP in front of dudley, but not SM
tacoking on 2/25/2003 7:15:01 PM said:
i dont give a crap what u think, or al the other people think on where my rides are rated. I think that SM is better than them, wether you like it or not, and you cant say anything that could get me to change that.
RAM20884 on 2/27/2003 6:46:58 PM said:
i didnt like it that much..my order of fav water rides is the same as his except maybe switch ripsaw falls and popeyes (maybe..undecided)
tacoking on 2/27/2003 8:04:10 PM said:
glad to see someone agrees with me
RAM20884 on 2/27/2003 8:10:40 PM said:
as always it seems
tacoking on 2/27/2003 8:15:15 PM said:
yea, oooook. popeyes was a great ride. one of the better themed rapids ive been on.
RAM20884 on 2/27/2003 8:21:42 PM said:
id say THE best
tacoking on 2/27/2003 8:47:19 PM said:
well i havent been on many, but its certainly the best theming i have seen or heard of for a rapids ride
DemonRules on 2/27/2003 8:47:56 PM said:
well, so we can give credit to popeyes, but why do you seem so opposed to liking dudley? bserwin, im not trying to change your mind, im just throwing out a different point of view.
xDisney on 2/27/2003 8:49:14 PM said:
As far as Log Flumes go, Ripsaw Falls is my favorite. The last drop is great, although it could use a little help in the themeing department.
tacoking on 2/27/2003 8:49:30 PM said:
i never said i didnt like it, i have been on better water rides than it, in fact 3 better water rides
DemonRules on 2/27/2003 8:59:47 PM said:
i know, i know, SM is your favorite one.....i think dudley is great, and the theming is pretty good, i think it looks quite impressive when you stand outside watching the people coming down......theres a lot going on
tacoking on 2/27/2003 9:05:16 PM said:
yes there is, i like to watch it, but i also like to see the fall of SM and see the peoples faces, its funny
DemonRules on 2/27/2003 9:07:04 PM said:
some people get really scared, i agree, its fun to watch.......except for when someone jumps off.......
tacoking on 2/27/2003 9:08:19 PM said:
i have never seen that yet, i dont think i want to
DemonRules on 2/27/2003 9:09:21 PM said:
yeah, i just remember a story a couple of years back of someone who was so scared that they jumped to their death, kinda sad, but at the same time, those people shouldnt be on rides
RAM20884 on 2/27/2003 10:17:02 PM said:
they jumped..that must suck for the park..that happened at riverside years back..sum one tried to commit suicide by jumping off the top of the cyclone. as for ripsaw..i think one thing it needs is themeing..its not that good..other than that its fine but SM and JP are better. ans bserwin3, i havent been on many otha rafts either but this has this best of the ones of been on and heard of..i wanna ride kali..that better?
DemonRules on 2/28/2003 9:52:18 AM said:
kali is quite good, at least in my opinion. but i wouldnt say that its better. you certainly should ride it, though
tacoking on 2/28/2003 3:57:53 PM said:
yes it is pretty fun, but i enjoyed Popeyes better
DemonRules on 3/1/2003 4:47:34 PM said:
im agreeing with you, popeyes is alot of fun, especially when the people get you with the squirt guns
tacoking on 3/3/2003 6:53:23 PM said:
i like that part. you get so cold when that happens.
Lin48 on 3/4/2003 7:41:19 PM said:
The best thing about RF is the drops and the length of the ride. The theming is lame. SM has length, a few cool drops, and the theming to boot. JP & Popeyes were both awesome for what they were and had terrific theming. I can understand why someone would give this ride a 6...I gave it an 8, but I probably should have given it lower...its just that I really liked the airtime I got on the last big drop. Other than that though, it was pretty disappointing all in all.
tacoking on 3/4/2003 8:26:23 PM said:
thank you very much lin48
DemonRules on 3/5/2003 5:45:14 PM said:
no, thanks for nothing lin48.......
tacoking on 3/5/2003 5:56:04 PM said:
aaaa, thats just ur opinion. but what do have against SM???
RAM20884 on 3/5/2003 7:44:58 PM said:
Demon just hates Disney
tacoking on 3/5/2003 7:46:20 PM said:
i know. like its not obvious enough. i have nothin against universal i mean, IoA is my homepark. but i like disney just as much.
RAM20884 on 3/5/2003 7:47:22 PM said:
Disney is quality and it has better themeing
tacoking on 3/5/2003 7:49:01 PM said:
yea. but IoA is my homepark, and no disney ride beats the Hulk or comes near it.
RAM20884 on 3/5/2003 7:52:30 PM said:
yea the hulk is great..whats it like my4th fav ride (i dont eel like checkin) but i like spiderman better..i like a good theme..but the hulk is great.
tacoking on 3/5/2003 7:54:22 PM said:
im just thinking, most people just like spiderman becuase like everyone else that has been on it say its the best. so they want to "fit" in, and, most peole just think its cool because there is no other ride that i can think of thats like it. i like it. but the hulk is better, IMO
RAM20884 on 3/5/2003 8:00:09 PM said:
im not one of those ppl..coasters are great but 3D is cool and the fact that you move at the same time..plus how each villian does somethin cool..i think its one that truly submerses u in the world they want you to be in and i love it.,.plus its looks cool..i like when u go under the statue of liberty head. and what a great ending..that drop =)
tacoking on 3/5/2003 8:02:38 PM said:
yes i like the ending. ur falling, but not going anywhere.
DemonRules on 3/5/2003 9:29:13 PM said:
hey, i dont hate disney, i just find very little to like about them. i appreciate some of the rides they have to offer, and am a huge fan of EPCOT, i just disagree with their policy of theming over quality
RAM20884 on 3/5/2003 9:33:06 PM said:
there is quality just not supremecy..the rides are quality, they are made well and good but not better (w/out any themeing) to rides in other parks. there is quality and in many posts u seem to hate disney except for a chosen few rides.
DemonRules on 3/5/2003 9:36:59 PM said:
i dont hate disney, i hate the people who defend bad disney rides because they say that the rides have good theming, im simply against rides being given a higher rating because they are themed better
RAM20884 on 3/5/2003 9:39:58 PM said:
but themeing is important to me and other ppl. its like a rubric for rides (i hate to ise this reference cuz im sick of teachers and their fuckin rubrics) and themeing is there..ill give a bad ride a higher rating if its themed cuz themeing does help create a better ride..granted just ,akin a ride themed doesnt make it automatically good but it helps a lot.
DemonRules on 3/6/2003 8:13:38 AM said:
you see, you admit that theming a ride doesnt automatically make the ride good, but others think it does
RAM20884 on 3/6/2003 12:49:30 PM said:
no it doesnt..but u see that it does help make it better
DemonRules on 3/6/2003 4:21:57 PM said:
it does if it is a theme that people can relate to. the theming for SM is based off a disney movie that was never released
RAM20884 on 3/6/2003 4:38:00 PM said:
i like the theming of SM..i dont think ppl have to relate to it..how do ppl relate to aliens and runaway trains..i think SM has some of the best themeing..its fun and gives of that childhood aspect.
DemonRules on 3/6/2003 4:46:09 PM said:
i guess maybe im just a little too old to get a kick out of seeing brer bear get his head stuck in a honey pot......
RAM20884 on 3/6/2003 4:50:05 PM said:
arent u 17..im 16 and ill always laugh...SM makes me feel like a little kid again and i like that cuz theres too much bullshit i have to deal w/ now
DemonRules on 3/6/2003 4:52:08 PM said:
yeah, im 17, but i just have a hard time liking what disney offers as theming. i just think id rather be at US or IOA which offers more theming based around my age group
RAM20884 on 3/6/2003 5:01:56 PM said:
eh..true..i mean i love USF and IOA and the themeing is geared more toward my age group but i still love disney..and really only MK has little kid themeing.
DemonRules on 3/6/2003 5:07:58 PM said:
true, i really respect EPCOT for having rides for the slightly older group. EPCOT is especially diverse in terms of who they are geared towards. young and old can enjoy it
RAM20884 on 3/6/2003 5:12:44 PM said:
i think MGM is too. ToT and RnR are geared toward our age group..as is Indiana Jones.
DemonRules on 3/6/2003 5:18:39 PM said:
those are all great rides (once rode ToT 14 times in a row) but what that park could really use is a water ride, like i stated in the message boards. it would make that park so much better
RAM20884 on 3/6/2003 5:21:41 PM said:
yea and had never even thought of that. a good water ride would be great..even better if it was sumthin original..MK has a flume, AK has a raft ride EPCOT has nothin really, but maybe a watercoaster..i dunno, somehtin cool and well-themed
DemonRules on 3/6/2003 5:28:51 PM said:
i suggested a ride based off of the movie perfect storm, with huge waves, and a rocking boat, and all that goes into a large storm
RAM20884 on 3/6/2003 5:30:53 PM said:
yea i read the forum..good ride idea but it seems like a ride thatd have a slow movin line..other than that it sounds good
DemonRules on 3/6/2003 5:38:35 PM said:
true, but its not my job to figure out how to make it to fit alot of people, i just come up with the ideas. lol
RAM20884 on 3/6/2003 5:39:50 PM said:
lol..yup..Disney and the other parks should go to sites like these..ive seen the best ideas for rides..especially from u and mrceagle..disney could benefit from this site
tacoking on 3/6/2003 6:43:02 PM said:
i kinda lost what u were talkin about
DemonRules on 3/6/2003 8:10:00 PM said:
we were talking about improvements to MGM, or disney in general, and i brought up the idea for a perfect storm water ride. thats about it
RAM20884 on 3/6/2003 9:14:39 PM said:
i totally forgot what the review was..we went way off topic
DemonRules on 3/7/2003 8:20:24 AM said:
just a LITTLE....
tacoking on 3/7/2003 4:45:30 PM said:
a perfect storm ater ride would be cool. mgm kinda needs a water ride, like epcot does too
DemonRules on 3/7/2003 4:48:55 PM said:
MGM more, cause EPCOT at least has a boat ride. MGM is the most updated of the disney rides, with the most intense rides of the 3 parks. it could use it the most also cause its always hot in florida, and it would draw alot of attention and people to the park
tacoking on 3/7/2003 4:56:32 PM said:
yes its hot most of the year here, even in winter EXCEOT when a cold front comes through
RAM20884 on 3/7/2003 10:13:15 PM said:
last time i was there the last 2 days were in the 50s and i was cold cuz i was used tot he heat...we went to sea world..Journey to Atlnatis isnt as fun n e more when its 50 degrees out. there was no way i was gonna get splashe dby shamu either
tacoking on 3/7/2003 10:34:12 PM said:
then u came after a cold front
RAM20884 on 3/7/2003 10:36:50 PM said:
i musta..it sucked..we were takin pics in florida and came bacck and showed ppl at home and they were like "why r u wearin sweaters"
tacoking on 3/7/2003 10:39:55 PM said:
yea. it gets cold sometimes after cold fronts, and after some "cold" fronts it only gets down to like 75 or 80, when that happens its not really a cold front. a month or 2 ago it got REAL cold after one of them and it flurried here, not a big deal, but it did
RAM20884 on 3/7/2003 10:43:31 PM said:
it snowed..in florida..i woulda been pissed if i was on vaca and it snowed..i hate the snow..except for the fact that it can get u outa school..we got out 2hrs early yesterday cuz we had a snowstorm.
tacoking on 3/7/2003 10:48:26 PM said:
it wasnt that kinda snow, just a few flurries, it hapened once in 1989 and in 1977
RAM20884 on 3/7/2003 10:55:11 PM said:
lol..not that often huh..i hate it..i want to go to texas..this winter we had our first snowfall a week b4 thanksgiving and were still gettin snow. over feb. vaca we got about 2 ft in one day.
tacoking on 3/7/2003 10:56:08 PM said:
haha. i couldnt stand that much snow. i dont really care for it neways
RAM20884 on 3/7/2003 11:05:33 PM said:
i hate it..i hate shoveling it too. like i said the only good thing is when uit gets u outa school or like a delay.
tacoking on 3/8/2003 9:59:44 AM said:
yea. but dont u have to make it up???? like u miss a day or 2 in feb. and make it up at the end of the school year.
RAM20884 on 3/8/2003 10:13:35 AM said:
yea but like thurs we got out early..those are the best days cuz u miss almost all of the day and dont have to make it up..if u miss the full day then yea u have to make it up.
tacoking on 3/8/2003 10:52:53 AM said:
well then that sux, makin it up. then u never really got a day off.
RAM20884 on 3/8/2003 10:55:35 AM said:
well yes and no..u have to make it up but its at the end of the year and finals kinda fuck up the last couple days so the days you have to make up are kinda nuthin days so mostly i dont go and they usually dont even take attendance those days.
tacoking on 3/8/2003 10:57:19 AM said:
yea, we never make up days here, haha
RAM20884 on 3/8/2003 10:59:11 AM said:
like not at all..what about like hurricane days..did u guys get out for hurricane floyd a few years back?
tacoking on 3/8/2003 11:30:23 AM said:
yea, but the school i was at then never made up the days
RAM20884 on 3/8/2003 1:52:52 PM said:
thats cool..we got 2 days out for floyd which never really hit us. but we had to make em up.
DemonRules on 3/8/2003 2:43:16 PM said:
you better hope those trailers are secure.......
tacoking on 3/8/2003 4:44:43 PM said:
ours are like quadruple bolted, twice
DemonRules on 3/8/2003 8:20:00 PM said:
we really dont have to worry about ours blowing away, it just sucks having to walk through snow every day
RAM20884 on 3/8/2003 9:07:09 PM said:
yea that doesnt sound fun..how big our these trailers
DemonRules on 3/8/2003 9:14:36 PM said:
well, we have four put together (that we call the quad) which house four classrooms which can probably each fit about 30 kids into. they are quite large, its not like were cramped or anything. we have a total of 7 classrooms made of trailers
RAM20884 on 3/8/2003 9:24:17 PM said:
i picture them small but thats cool..ive never even heard of that before
DemonRules on 3/8/2003 9:27:23 PM said:
having school in trailers? lol, neither had I until one day there i was, in one
RAM20884 on 3/8/2003 9:29:13 PM said:
lol. id hate it this time of year cuz of the snow. plus knowing im out there and i dont even get to go to the new school that im out there for.

haha. damn school board
DemonRules on 3/11/2003 4:32:15 PM said:
no, the situation here is much crazier.....we were all ready to go and build, but then this land conservancy group heard about it, and have been protesting it ever since. they have now gone as far as to sue our school just to stop the construction process. its really gay.
tacoking on 3/11/2003 5:53:41 PM said:
well. ok then. sounds gay.
RAM20884 on 3/11/2003 6:58:42 PM said:
damn conservationists..i agree some land must be preserved but between them and the ppl protesting war..whats the world comin to when we cant nuke countries and cut down forests
tacoking on 3/11/2003 7:26:56 PM said:
u cant just go and nuke a country, and i believe we should save some forests and tropical rain forests
RAM20884 on 3/11/2003 7:33:58 PM said:
yes some must be saved. i used to be so conservationist. i wouldnt wear leather..got over that..im still into animals and conservation but i think some ppl take it too far and to protest a school bein built..thats bull. as for the other thing..we need to nuke iraq..maybe not nuke em but we need to go to war..im sick of these protesters that are against it..theyre just ignorant..i mean think about it..n e one think 9/11 was an accident..nope..it was palnned and carried out and worst of all successful beyound the wildest dreams of the terrorsist. now n e one think theyll say "he we did it so yea we can stop"..nope..they werte successful so theyre gonna do it again. the only way to stop them is war.
tacoking on 3/11/2003 7:47:30 PM said:
i agree. but not nuke them. we cant really neways. and either way, hen we go to war with iraq saddam husien is going to be tempted to use his "weapons of mass destruction" like if we go to war, hell want to use them, because the US will be comin after him to disarm him, and if we dont go after him, then he will still have the weapons, and possibly use them.
RAM20884 on 3/11/2003 8:59:15 PM said:
ok so no nukes..invade with snipers..Sadaam must die
tacoking on 3/11/2003 9:11:36 PM said:
dont need snipers, if we go to war well use the bobmers first to bomb the main points, then send in the troops into probably the bagdad area.
RAM20884 on 3/11/2003 9:29:33 PM said:
just kill sadaam..and get bin laden while while at it
MagnumMan on 3/12/2003 7:34:14 AM said:
Dont you think if Bush was really up to the challenge, he would have already cought Bin Laden a YEAR AGO?! He can forget about him. And about Saddam...hes just trying to pose as a remake of his father, when he was in office. Saddam didnt do anything directly to us. In fact, before all this mess was brought up, I didnt give one care about him. I forgot who he was. All Bush is doing is keeping up the U.Ss reputation of "Well either come to the rescue, or youll die." Its ridiculous. WAR-IS-COMPLETELY-UNESSASARY, no matter how much he brainwashes Colin Powell into acussing Iraq...
DemonRules on 3/12/2003 8:22:39 AM said:
this a little late in response, but in terms of the land we are trying to get, its not a forest at all. its just a field with tall grass in it.

we shouldve gotten saddam in the first gulf war!!!
bb_dg on 3/12/2003 4:46:53 PM said:
