Review of Batman The Dark Knight @ Six Flags New England

Overall this was a good ride and it had some intense inversions, but I felt that it lacked any originality. I think SFNE desperately needs a coaster that stands out, but it was still a great floorless that was smooth.

SFNE has a coaster that stands out. Its called Superman: Ride Of Steel, and on July 10th of this year, for the third time in a row, it was chosen the number one coaster on the planet by Park World magazine. I think that speaks for itself.

they need more than just those 2 rides though. A nice Flyer, Impulse, or Inverted coaster could really help. I was thinking of going to SFNE but decided to go to Dorney Instead, cuz it has more rides

I think a double twisting impule would be great for SFNE.

Im not saying that SFNE doesnt need more coasters. Every park could use more coasters, even Magic Mountain and Cedar Point keep adding coasters and they have more coasters than anyone. What Im responding to is the statement "...I think SFNE desperately needs a coaster that stands out...". Superman: Ride Of Steel has been recognized as one of the most outstanding coasters of all time. So to say SFNE doesnt have a coaster that stands out is either ignorant or prejudiced.

yea, sros does stand out, but its really the only outstading coaster there. the only other one is bdk, but u can find a bigger version of it at great adventure. the general public wont know how great sros is when they look at nitro. nitro isnt as good but do they know? not really. what sfne needs is a coaster that will stand out to the general public. what could help them is getting an impulse, and then they can say theyre the only park in the northeast with one. or they can get a huge invert, like montu or raptor, and then they can be known as the park with the biggest inverted coaster.

So are you saying that SFNE has to get a gimmick coaster to help promote Superman? I think that is not needed. As I said before, Superman is already recognized as one of the finest coasters in the world. And every year it attracts more and more crowds to SFNE to experience what Park World magazine has called "the greatest coaster on the planet".
B&M Rider on 9/8/2002 10:50:24 AM said:
yea that is what im saying. eventually fewer and fewer ppl are gonna go to the park just to ride one awesome coaster. Imagine how many more ppl would come is sfne got a huge impulse, or a B&M invert

Well, I wish the "fewer and fewer" syndrone would start soon. Here it is, post Labor Day, and the weekends are as bad as a Saturday in July, and they ALL go to Superman. How I long for the days when that coaster was less well known and on a September Sunday you could be in your seat of choice in twenty minutes.

An impulse wouldnt be good as SFNE the capacity is too low. They wont get a B&M inverted with the Mind eraser coaster still onsite. The park at this time has only one stand out coaster and thats superman. Batman was well designed and placed though it would have gotten better revues if it were built by a smaller park rather then SFNE.

Everyone seems to be missing my point, which is SFNE has a "stands out" coaster, which is Superman, and the giant crowds at the park prove it.
B&M Rider on 9/12/2002 3:39:06 PM said:
yea, but there are also giant crowds at sfaw, and do u see a stand-out coaster there? i just see a big heap of reused schwarzkopfs
ILoveWood on 9/13/2002 3:24:57 PM said:
But that doesnt change the fact that SFNE has Superman, which is a stand out ride, and the crowd knows it. And that is why theyre there, already! They dont need some other ride to get them to notice Superman. Superman is the reason people come there in the first place.

i still think they need to replace some of their coasters with better ones though. they have too many vekoma clones there

The park wanted another stand out ride to pull some crouds out of the SROS que line and shorten the wait. As fare as crowds go SFNE hade a tarible year, Acording to NEAPA Canobie lake Park had a better year and they feal they had a slow year.

Im surprised. Seems like every time I was at SFNE this year, it was packed, even mid-week.
