Review of Nitro @ Six Flags Great Adventure

Nitro is an excellent ride. You start off going down a small dip before you go into the lift hill. To intimidate you, several signs are put up comparing you with the heights of famous landmarks. When you crest the hill, you wait for the highly anticipated drop, but it doesnt come as soon as you think. You just keep turning further and further over the edge for what seems like an eternity. Finally, you get hurled towards the ground. Once you realize whats going on, your already climbing the second hill at around 80 mph. It creates the illusion like your going up vertically. You then drop several more times before you reach a helix with strong g-forces that stick you to the back of your seat. After a brake run and several bunny hops, you arrive back at the station. Overall, this ride was amazing, and Im very happy I chose this as my first hypercoaster. It was just missing one thing: airtime. Even the back didnt have very much, but still, it was an awesome ride. Ride in the front for the wonderful view, and the back if you want some airtime.

Youre Crazy!!!! If this ride has anything its airtime. Especially in rear. This Ride provides more airtime than basicly every coaster in the country. With youre complex description of the ride I would think you would get the main purpose of Nitro.... Airtime!!

I agree with B&M Rider. Definately a great hyper, but I thought it was lacking in the airtime department too. But thats just my opinion.

sure, it did have tons of hills, it just goes too slowly over them. this was my first hyper and maybe i expected too much. or maybe the stupid ride operators pulled the clam shell restraints too tight, but it just went too slow over the top. i think id like ejector airtime more than floating airtime

Ok. I was thinking you thought this ride had no airtime period. This ride has a ton airtime its just not as intense as some of the intamin hypers. Ride Millenium Force or Superman Ride of Steel and you will probably be more satisfied.

The 2nd 3rd and 4th hills are great, b/c you get zero G and -G on them - zero as you rise and fall, and negative as you crest. Well, maybe thats more true for the 3rd and 4th hills, you just get more of a floating sensation on the second hill, but that hill does turn to the left so thats cool. Anyway, yeah its got airtime and lots of it.

i noticed a trim brake between the 2nd hill and the hammerhead, without it nitro would be air city!

yeah!!! i couldnt believe thats there!!! it made me feel like the park was stealing the air time, although im sure it only takes off a few mph, some more air would only make the ride better.

Yea, roller, that was pure spam. Anywayz, back to the trim brakes, sure it cuts down on some speed and some air time, but hell, the park is doing it for the riders safety, and thats cool for me. In my opinion, the ride has kick-ass air-time, however I havent been on the ejector hills of MF and S:ROS. I cant wait, tho, cuz I think next year Ill be gettin a spin on the monster in Sandusky. Hopefully that trip doesnt flop.
