Review of Triple Hurricane @ Cypress Gardens Adventure Park

This isnt a great wooden roller coaster. It doesnt really meet any of the standards that I look for in a coaster. It didnt have any large drops (the largest drop was probably the legnth of the train), it didnt give you any air time, it didnt have anything new in it. It was basically a wooden kiddie coaster, but was actually the biggest coaster at cypress gardens. Despite all this, it is fun anyway. It was my favorite coaster in Cypress Gardens. At the end of the night, I rode it 10 times without getting off. As time went on, me and my sister had the whole train to ourselves!

So your basicly complainign because the family coaster was nothign but a family coaster. What do you really expect, a miniature thunderhead?

The Triple Hurricane doesent have any airtime? from the pictures I saw it looked like it did.
mrceagle on 1/5/2005 11:30:50 AM said:
I would have to ride it to know for sure but most family coaster dont hae air time. it scares the kids. they normaly have a good float experiance and mildly intence manuvers.

I was actually expecting some air time on it because of how its set up, but I didnt feel any. This could be becasue the seats are kind of small and my legs are too long. Im average size, but my sister who is a good foot shorter than me claimed to get a lot of air time. So I guess for a small person, you can get some air time on this coaster, but an average or large person wont get any air time from this coaster.
tacoking on 1/5/2005 5:02:58 PM said:
And who cares about airtime when riding a junior coaster. You dont ride them looking for airtime in the first place.
mrceagle on 1/5/2005 5:24:02 PM said:
I have to agre with taco. its a Junior coaster and you cant be expectign Bolderdash.
Docter on 1/5/2005 5:25:05 PM said:
Ya your right Tacoking but airtime makes the coaster better and more intense.
woofboy111 on 1/5/2005 6:38:53 PM said:
Being the largest coaster at Cypress Gardens, I was sort of hoping that at least one of their coasters (this would be it) had air time even if it was a junior/family coaster, but I guess everyone will need to wait until summer 2005 when Cypress Gardens builds their next coaster which will hopefully be bigger than a kiddie, junior, or family coaster.
mrceagle on 1/5/2005 8:16:50 PM said:
With the fact they plan to build a water park in 2005 I wouldnt expact a coaster. if they did add a coaster your looking at a factory modle. also keep in mind that his other park Wild Adventure has the largist colection of family coaster of any none corperate park.
tacoking on 1/6/2005 1:52:40 PM said:
Well according to Screamscape, someone found on a brochure that a new coaster is coming this year, but I wouldnt out that in the confirmed column yet.

"Ya your right Tacoking but airtime makes the coaster better and more intense."

Not for a Junior coaster.

mrceagle on 1/6/2005 3:51:23 PM said:
Who knows maybe they will. lookign at the park I woudl prefer a handfull of flats as aposed to one coaster.
woofboy111 on 1/6/2005 6:57:02 PM said:
On the brochures that you get in rest stops along the turnpike for the park, they advertize 5 coasters, and then say that the 5th coaster is coming in Summer 2005 in parenthises.

And arent a lot of the coasters at Wild adventures a bit more intense than Cypress Gardens coasters?
tacoking on 1/6/2005 7:02:13 PM said:
I hope we get a great world class woodie here. Cheetah at Wild Adventures looks great...at least performence-wise, the steel supports look, not good.
mrceagle on 1/7/2005 3:11:26 PM said:
No they have Chetah, a Boomerang, and a SLC. thats it for intence coaster. prity much everything else is a family coaster. An SLC wouldnt do anythign for teh park not given the area. even a boomerange woudnt help them. they need to add a coaster with somthing grand.
woofboy111 on 1/7/2005 3:34:19 PM said:
a millenium force style giga-coaster would be something grand... Itll never happen though. I wish it did though.
Docter on 1/7/2005 4:24:22 PM said:
Cypress Gardens wouldnt have room for a Giga coaster anyway. But ya your right a more intense coaster will do better for the park and will attract more and more people.
tacoking on 1/7/2005 10:51:08 PM said:
Well, Id hate to say it, but I think something like a Boomerang or SLC could be possible. We have niether of those rides down here in Florida, so they could be popular - seeing as how most of the visitors to Cypress Gardens are going to be Floridians.
mrceagle on 1/8/2005 1:44:13 AM said:
Yes but they have been to IOA and BGT. Givin the fact that they have already riden two fantastic B&M inverteds an SLC isnt goign to draw anyone. A boomerange isnt anything fantastic nore a big draw. its just a compact coaster. they woudl be beter off geting somthing like a custom Premeir Launch coaster. I Jr Hyper(see Expedition Gforce).
tacoking on 1/8/2005 9:06:36 AM said:
Expedition GeForce...a Jr hyper?

While I understand the SLC part, I still think that is a possibility, and I definatly think the Boomerang thing is a possibility. I know its nothing fantastic, but that doesnt mean it wouldnt be a hit with the regular visitors at the park.

Docter on 1/8/2005 9:11:32 AM said:
There most likely not going to get anything big. There probably going to get a boomerang or another woodie.(I would rather have another woodie). But I guess the rides they have right now are worth riding for only 30.00.
mrceagle on 1/8/2005 10:59:33 AM said:
Yes a Jr hyper. Also look at the small Rocket coaster(alton Towers, Hershy park). Somthing that isnt in florida or anythignliek it in florida would bring people to the park. SLCs are usless. I know people that have never been out side of NE and never riden a B&M invert yet still hate Mind Eraser. Those coasers have there place butthey need ofer a great price but they still need to compete with the local parks.
woofboy111 on 1/8/2005 2:20:03 PM said:
this may sound like a stupid question... what does SLC stand for?
tacoking on 1/8/2005 6:13:49 PM said:
You seriously think Expedition GeForce is a Jr. Hyper? Now, Steel Eel - thats a true Jr. Hyper. GeForce is a full blown Hyper, and looks like the best one out there too.
mrceagle on 1/8/2005 7:49:57 PM said:
Length: 4002 7", Height: 173 11", Speed: 74.6 mph, Duration: 1:15, Max Vertical Angle: 82 Degrees. Its under 200ft so its not a Hyper coaster. But you throgh out Steel Eel so your getign the picture though. Woofboy111: SLC stands for Suspended Looping Coaster. Its best known at Mind Eraser at teh Six Flags parks.
tacoking on 1/8/2005 8:13:07 PM said:
Well, I am pretty certain the drop is more than 200ft - which in my book, makes it Hyper coaster.
mrceagle on 1/9/2005 9:04:01 PM said:
There is no tunnel on Expidition G force. it turn 90 degrees and levils off on the ground. I know Ive seen both Photos and Video. So its under 200ft and isnt a hyper. Goliath at the formet SF holand is another prime example of a premeim Jr Hyper.
BobFunland on 1/9/2005 9:10:39 PM said:
For those who were commenting above, I think I saw billboards for a spinning coaster on my way down I-75 through north Florida, just I dont remember which park.
tacoking on 1/9/2005 10:01:50 PM said:
Well maybe that new ride is a spinning coaster, because there have been a few rumors hinting a spinning coaster.

Alright, so its not - by definition - a true hyper. However, a ride such as GeForce, or Goliath, are no Jr. Hypers...in my book.

mrceagle on 1/9/2005 10:56:00 PM said:
Realisticly there isnt a definition for those of a Hyper style but not the height. Jr Hyper has been trown arouns for a few years now. Its only to allow a better discription of what peaple want. A coaster like a Hyper but smaller.
woofboy111 on 1/10/2005 12:41:12 PM said:
the spinning coaster could have been the spinning wild mouse at Animal kingdom.
mrceagle on 1/10/2005 4:33:03 PM said:
I ment to respond with this same info. Primeval Whirl is a spining coaster.
tacoking on 1/10/2005 4:34:16 PM said:
Bob, you need to remember that kind of stuff.
mrceagle on 1/10/2005 9:18:15 PM said:
Now everyone is intitaled to a few brain farts a year.
BobFunland on 1/11/2005 4:17:50 PM said:
Well, remember, between Valdosta and Orlando, there are 40 billboards per mile going south, and half of them are for various parks, I dont remember
mrceagle on 1/17/2006 10:08:49 AM said:
yes it is a spinnign ride hence the name. its a Spinning wild Mouse. Zamperla if I recall corectly.
mrceagle on 5/16/2006 3:30:15 PM said:
Why Not its an Interactive Zamperla Cataloge. Look at Lagoon. How much of there park is S&S?
