BOOOOOOOO!!! So what if it has a surpise rollercoaster ending and a fairly long drop, the rest of the ride sucks! What the hell is going on? We arrive in Atlantis, then water fountains hop around, then some random woman frowns at us and tells us to leave. What the hell did we do wrong lady? I cant figure out this ride. If you can figure it out please post a comment for me, but I doubt anyone else will be able to figure it out either!!!

The theme is that Atlantis has risen for some strange reason, and you go in in an old fishing boat. The Evil Spirit has sensed us, and drawed us in with magic and beauty, but then she captures us and does all her nasty doing to us.

I dont know how u know that, but whatever the case is you
are good. I cant believe that the story was so detailed,
yet the ride was so short and confusing. Thx for clearing
that up!

Ummm, I finally found out what the story is supposed to be. Read this:::::::::::::::::::::::>

After untold eons, Atlantis rises in the harbor of a quaint Greek fishing village, spurring a modem, full-scale media invasion. the ancient city radiates anew, revealing glorious Greek temples and rolling Mediterranean hills. The main temple looms large, crowned with a radiant dome that shines like a beautiful blue beacon, but inside, dark secrets dwell within the mysterious maze. The magnificent building surges with water and shakes with unearthly sounds. Guests make their way past the media horde and board rickety Greek fishing boats. Without warning, an ominous current tugs at the boats and, as the journey begins, reality retreats in the distance. A wise, old Greek fisherman offers the only protection against the Sirens: a golden seahorse that magically metamorphoses into Hermes, a glittering guide. Immediately, the battle between Hermes and the Sirens is on and riders, caught in the clash, twist, dive and dodge through uncharted waters at speeds up to 50 mph.

Seems to be the only person, cuz that story sux. Also, he must have used a lot of detail, cuz the rides theming part was so short I can only remember one part- the fountains. I wouldnt say you "...clash, twist, dive and dodge through uncharted waters..." Maybe you dive at 50 mph, but thats about it...overall the theming killed this ride. If you come off Splash Mountain confused, you are simply stupid. Dudley you can at least tell what is goin on, even though it doesnt have the best theming. And unlike Atlantis, Dudley actually has a good drop. It is not shoved at you immediatly like in Atlantis...but I give some props to coasterboy...its a nice little essay and a good explanation of the story, although somewhat a little bit of an exaggeration...

I disagree, I think they put a lot of thought into the story. The more times you go on the attraction, the more you will pick up.

Ive been on it twice. The second time I rode it I tried to figure it out. The themed part of the attraction was too short and confusing to make out what the story was about.
