 Review of Incredible Hulk Coaster @ Islands of Adventure

Hulk is possibly the most overrated roller coaster in America. The launch is great, the zero g roll is awesome, and the cobra roll and vertical loop are great too. But everything after that isnt that great. In fact, the back half of Hulk is probably one of the worst layouts of any B&M coaster. The turns in the second half are all awkward, and the whole portion is also fairly rough for a B&M coaster, especially considering that Hulk is not that old, and at a park you would expect good upkeep from. It seems to me that most people only remember how great the first half of Hulk is and forget the second half.

LoL yea I agree with you sfnesros. All coasters have a less eventful second half then first half, plus 2 corkscrews and a flip is better than a lot of B&M second halfs. Medusa and Kumba, for example, just have two corkscrews. You are entitled to your own opinion, but I think that IOA and B&M did such a good job amazing the riders on the launch, 0-g roll, cobra roll, and flip within the first 30 seconds that there was no way to make the 2nd half as impressive as the first half. I even think that Hulk has one of the better second halfs of the rides that Ive ridden. 3 inversions and some nice gs, ill take that any day.

The launch and the first few elements after it are great, just like on Hulk. Then, Flight of Fear slows down for a long time, and you think its going to end this way. But instead, it suprises you with some really intense turns and another inversion. Hulks second half could have been a little more than a few turns and a corkscrew, thats all. Maybe a dive loop and a helix.

Raptor, try to name me three B&Ms that have dive loops after the break-run. And another thing, you claim Flight of Fear gives you "some intense turns and another inversion". Hulk gives you another 3 inversions and some intense turns. Your reasons are making no sense, and you know it. As I said before, if you actually have ridden the Hulk, I think you were expecting more stuff like what you got before the MCBR, but how could a ride that features a launch into a 150 ft. high 0-g roll into a cobra roll into a loop ALL before the MCBR supposed to continue that intensity? It cant. So dont diss Hulk cuz its second half is worse that its first, cuz its first half alone exceeds 99% of the coasters out there today.

Also, it seems you forget the THeme of the ride. It goes by that to become hulk, then wind down back to normal, or conquer it. Youre not supposed to be crazy the whole time(wouldnt be anything wrong with that), but I think its a great coaster.

i agree. number 1 definitly! i couldnt believe some of the surprises! well if you think incredible hulks ending is horrible (which i dont, very nice spaghetti bowl type ending), Mantis at Cedar Point must be horrible too. Its the same type ending! A bunch of turns! Yet it gets rated pretty highly...
