Review of Incredible Hulk Coaster @ Islands of Adventure

OK but not that good for a b and m, i can name at least 5 better b and ms! ( montu, kumba, kraken, nemesis, fire and ice dragons) This ride doesnt deserve the praise it gets, the launch is good and what follows is good and then the ride goes down hill very boringly towards the end!

Fire and Ice better than the Hulk. Thats funny. Even though I loved Fire and Ice, I would call them a more classic design besides the dueling element by B&M. Hulk is in a class by its own.

Dueling Dragons are great, but not as good as Hulk.

I also agree with you, but many people like them better than Hulk. Both my friends who I went with to IOA liked Fire better than Hulk, but they both thought Ice was the worst of the three. I can see it though...they are both amazing coasters...

I tend to think people are just overwhelmed by the launch.. the back side of the track isnt as bad as its made out to be, in fact its above average B&M track wise in the back.. Think about it.. your launched, sent into a roll, and then three inversions.. your senses are already overwhelmed.. The back is fine, just outshined by the fast beginning. The RocknRoller coaster you like so much is a prime example of a horrible track layout after a great beginning. Fact is everything your saying here you could say about the RnR Coaster, and actually be accurate

Very good point. People always seem to hate the back of the Hulk if they hate something. I like the back. It has a hidden drop after the breaks, decent speed and a couple of inversions. RnR has a bad track layout, but for me the theming wins me over. I love Aerosmith, so it obvious that I like RnR Coaster. For someone who doesnt really like them I can see the theming not doing anything and in return giving RnR a not so great review...

I happen to think that Hulk is better than all of those, the Fire, Ice, Kumba, Montu. To me I thought Hulk also had good theming and was fun in the back, gave you all the elements of any of the ones you said were better, only has a better beginning, which in turn, does outshine the average back.

Sorry Kraken is b4 the Fire
Sephiroth7 on 1/7/2002 11:33:16 PM said:
However, unlike RnR coaster I feel the theming doesnt really add to the experience of the Hulk. Sure it has good theming, but I dont ride it because of it. Aerosmith has good theming and wouldnt be that great of a ride without it...but in the end the Hulk is still the best out there...

I like Fire alot as well, and probably bouce back and forth between Fire and the Hulk as far as IOA is concerened. Ive only ridden Kracken twice, but it was much better than I expected... This week Ill still go with the Hulk

i do not see why so many people seem to have a problem with the end of the hulk. I would take a loop, some fast turns, and 2 corkscrews over you basic interlcking corkscrew plus helix ending found on nearly every sitdown B&M

Kraken could be better than the Hulk, but the Hulk has the launch and the amazing zero g roll. Otherwise they are similar in more ways than one...

I agree with some of the things that youre saying. Yes, the ending is not great; but I agree with ThmPrkCrtc in the fact that the back is mearly overshadowed. It does have the neat drop after the brake run, the banked turns, the corkskrew, the ride photo, and a few other goodies. Overall, I dont think that it is too bad.

What? Who are you talking about...

LOL.....anywho...I just got back from IOA and Hulk hasnt aged well at all...its has become rough...I was so dissapointed on how it had aged. Doesnt help that there is nop padding to be found. What was once a 10 is now a 7 [thats being generous]. Im very upset.
Sephiroth7 on 2/3/2002 4:18:42 PM said:
Sureeeee.....I was there recently...same experience I had with it the first time I went during the soft opening...
xDisney on 2/3/2002 4:48:28 PM said:
The launch had has numerous recent failures. Sounds like its rehab city.
Sephiroth7 on 2/3/2002 10:31:12 PM said:
Possibly...but that doesnt change the rest of the ride...and there will be a rehab when needed. Rides can be maintained forever if they are kept well...

I just rode it this weekend, didnt notice anything at all different about it? What do you mean hasnt aged well?
Paul on 2/4/2002 4:05:21 PM said:
it has become rough...its no smoothie anymore. It has changed alot since it opned.
Sephiroth7 on 2/4/2002 4:07:08 PM said:
I have noticed no loss in speed or smoothness since its soft opening...

I like the Hulk alot, but that doesnt mean its the best, ok, sure it has a zero-gravity-roll, cobra-roll, and a loop at the beginning of the ride and also a great launch, their are better coasters but all the ones metioned above are nothing compared to the Hulk. My personal Favorites arePhantoms revenge, Dragon Khan, Millennium Force, Nitro, Talon and Mantis-Raptor.
David on 2/6/2002 11:16:56 AM said:
I dont think any other coasters besides: (Air, sperman-ultimate flight, x-flight and silver star) are better than the ones I named above, More of my FavoritesKraken, Montu, Katun, Orchi, pyrnees, Steel Dragon 2000.)
Sephiroth7 on 2/6/2002 12:50:09 PM said:
All are great coasters, some people just have different preferences...
ThmPrkCrtc on 2/8/2002 10:53:11 AM said:
Raptor is the most overrated coaster IMO, only B&M ive ever banged my head on.. And inverted steel just should not have head banging on the restriants.. Sorry
xDisney on 2/9/2002 6:49:17 PM said:
Wow, another B&M headbanger. I thought the Vortex at Carowinds was pretty bad.
sfnesros on 2/17/2002 11:17:34 AM said:
i thought raptor was very smooth. Only the turn after the cobra roll and the turn at the end jerk you head to the side.
