My family might be going to Boston this summer and I always have to pick a park to go to. It's essential!!! So Six Flags New England looks INCREDIBLE, but that's like 2 hrs. from Boston isn't it? Then there's Canobie Lake Park which looks nice, and it closer (35 min. from Boston), but it's in New Hampshire. Is Whalom still open and how far is it from Boston?

SFNE is a must if you are in that area and if you can get there. Beg borrow and plead, you must ride S:ROS. Lake Compounce is about the same distance from Boston (slightly further away)

ive been to SFNE, LC, funtown and canobie (all in the general area) and i liked SFNE the best. i would definately try to get out there. if not, try for canobie or lake compounce. each have their advantages. if youre looking for a great overall park experience, head for canobie but if you want the best woodie and the best chairlift, go to LC. LC really doesnt have much else IMO.

Canobie does look like a great park, but SFNE just looks INCREDIBLE and it is my #1 choice, but it's like 2 hrs. from Boston. That's the problem.

SFNE! SFNE! Don't miss it! Or LC. I have never been there before but Boulder Dash looks pretty cool.

From the latest I've read, Whalom (heaven rest its soul) is closed for good. The group selling "whales" to raise funds has begun returning the money to donators - not a good sign. Sorry to pass along the news - a real shame.

Yeah, I got my "whale" back a few weeks ago.

Back on subject, SFNE is your best bet. It is the closest park, and it is probably one of the better SF parks to boot. S:ROS truely is an awesome ride. The park is only a 90 minute drive from Boston, and well worth it.

I haven't been to the area, so I won't be offended if you don't take my advice too seriously, but I would say SFNE. Second choice would be LC.

You have got to be kidding me. Obviously you want to see all of these parks, but you must go to SFNE. I was there this past summer. Not the greatest, but SROS is worth it by itself.

I knew SFNE is the best PARK, but again it's 2 hrs. from Boston. I don't think my family will want to drive 2 hrs. just to go to a park.

I always get dirty looks when I go to SFNE. Maybee it has something to do with my Yankees hat and Boston Sucks 1918 shirt

Check out what other attractions the area has to offer that might interest the rest of your family. That way, both of you would be happy fom making the trip.

Well we'd make going into Boston for site seeing a day-trip and Salem Village a day trip. I think I'd rather go to Canobie. It looks so charming and it's not 40 bucks for admission.

From Boston you can reach Canobie Lake Park in about 40 minutes or so. That parks has a great old wooden coaster as well as quite a few other rides. SFNE is about 90 miles west of Boston and can be reached easilly on the Mass Pike in about 1 hr/50 minutes. I would reccomend that you do on a Monday or Tuesday after 4 PM. The addmission is lower and the crowds are much smaller. DO NOT GO ON THE WEEKENDS! Lake Compounce is about a 2hr/10 minute drive from Boston in Bristol Connecticut. This is also park you want to go to, as the Boulder Dash wooden coaster is probably the best woodie you will ever ride! That crowds flow well at LC as well so you can get alot of rides in under just a few hours.

Sadly, Whalom Park is closed and the outlook for it to reopen does not look good. Most of the rides are gone and the park is in disrepair.

I bought a Yankees Suck hat in Boston last fall. Oh, how I ahte the Yankees, and I'll go toe-to-toe with any Yankees fan, fair-weather, front-runner or devout, about how much and why I hate them. I did my senior thesis paper in English about why the Yankees are bad for baseball. I cherished the opprotunity that my beloved Marlins to beat them in the WS last year. Kevin Brown and Gary Sheffield used to be my fav. players, but now, they're just traitors that emmigrated to the Evil Empire. Now, it's Mark Mulder and Juan Pierre. But don't think that I like the BoSox much either, mainly because of their owner, John Henry.
