This is a topic to discuss coasters you wish you could have ridden that you won't ever get a chance to because they are gone forever.
I would have liked to ride the Bobs at Riverview Park, Hercules at Dorney Park, and The Lightning (forgot the park, but I do know it was built by Traver). Even though that last one was supposed to be wicked and a person died on it, I would like to see how intense it really was.

i'd like to ride any coaster that was torn down no matter what it was... unless it was dangerous, like the flip-flop

Swimace, OSTRs (some of the worst designed, ever) and trims. Lots of trims.

Speaking of trim brakes, I would have liked to have ridden Mean Streak before the trim brakes where added

Ahhhh...three come to mind. Of course, the Crystal Beach Cyclone. Secondly, the Tornado (Coney Island). Last but not least...The Aeroplane (Rye Playland). My god, I was born way too late.

- Any Schwarzkopf Jumbo Jet
- A Schwarzkopf Katapult
- Coney Island Thunderbolt
- Loop-the-Loop, the fixed one after the Flip-Flap. I rather not break my neck on Flip-Flap.

Now that was a hell of a good ride.

Why did they add so many trim brakes? It is possible to add trim brakes without ruining a ride. Montu got trim brakes added and it's still great.

To make it less intense? I also heard they added OSTRs because of laws in California, but Montezumas (sp?) Revenge doesn't have them.

Those are some of my top ride's as well, plus the Bobs at Riverview and the Thunderbolt at Coney. A little insider info, you may be able to ride the Aeroplane sometime in the nearer future.

Usually it is to reduce maintaince costs. By slowing the ride down it reduces the wear and tear on the track. The trains are very heavy and cause a lot of damage, expecally on wooden coasters.

That's stupid. "lets ruin a ride to make maintanance cost less"

It can cost millions to maintain some of these coasters year after year. For example, the turnaround after the first drop on Hercules had to be retracked nearly every year. That costs a lot of money. Parks have to put that in the equation. If they did not break even, there would be no rides at all.

Isn't that coaster haunted or something?

I never heard of any coaster being haunted. I'll ask around with some of the older people who knew Coney Island better

No, That's the Tornado (BOBS) which I think was removed in the 70's

I do. Sure, it could be horrible, but I've made it through some pretty tough things and no roller coaster could be that bad, so what's the worst that could happen?

It's not as bad as people say it is.
