Well after four straight years of begging about going to Six Flags Great Adventure, my dream came true. In fact, it was a surprise actually because when I got back from work at Hersheypark Tuesday night, my dad was working on his GPS & told me that him & I were going tomorrow. I was pumped about the trip & did some hardcore trip planning & coaster research (even though I knew mostly everything about every SFGAD coaster).

Yesterday, my dad & I left for the park at around 8:55 a.m. The ride wasn't that bad, with the exception of some construction along I-76 E. Before we got there though, we decided to stop off at Burger King to get a little something to nibble on since we both despise park food prices. Afterwards, we arrived at the park around 11:30 & now the fun begins.

After we got inside the park gates, I couldn't help but just fully admire the scenery it had. Obviously since I do a lot of research, I heard mixed reviews about how the park looks, but IMO, it exceeds exceptionally well in that department. I felt like I was actually in the deep jungle since I was completely surrounded by huge, yet elegant green trees. The first ride I wanted to get on was Nitro. Once we got up to the station, we were surprised that about we only had to wait for one train. Even before we took off, I was blown away by how comfortable the restraints were. It felt like I was having this vivid gliding experience with my feet barely hitting the ground. As we went up the lift hill, I gazed across the magnificent park & was getting excited about how there's so much to do here. Then came the astonishing 215' drop. It was exceptionally smooth & the airtime we got was crazy floater air. I definitely felt that butterfly feeling on that dip & my dad couldn't help but hold that T-bar restraint throughout the whole course. The next two hills provided some decent floater air too, then the turnaround towards more hills was great as it provided decent lateral Gs. After a couple more drops was when the hammerhead curves came in. I couldn't help but get whipped around side-to-side so smoothly & with great speed as the intensity factor started to increase dramatically. After the MCBRs was the usual assortment of camelback hills, however, the final drop before you hit the brakes for good gets you really good in your stomach. Overall, Nitro to me's the 2nd best ride at Great Adventure as the layout was long, the speed was relentless, & the out-and-back/twister layout brought out every little thing that should make for an amazing hyper. In fact, that was my first B&M hyper & it was awesome.

Batman: the Ride was the next coaster we came across after the sensational Nitro experience. However, irony came into play here as that coaster actually had a line. The wait wasn't that bad at all since it was around 15-20 min., but we would've expected that more from Nitro. Anyway, the ride's theme suits it perfectly & seeing the Batmobile before getting in line for it was a nice touch. Once we boarded the train, we had to wait for a little bit because my dad was having trouble with getting the restraint in. It's not like this was his first invert experience as he's been on Great Bear, Talon, Montu, & Dueling Dragons, but it felt tighter on him for some reason. He was able to ride though & there's not really much to say about Batman at all since most of ya'll have been on its many clones. I'll say that the intensity was insane & being on an invert with two vertical loops & corkscrews were interesting, but it ended too quickly for my dad & I's taste. Despite its short length though, it was fun, but I still think Talon's a better overall ride.

After Batman, my dad wanted to check out Batman & Robin: the Chiller. Unfortunately, we saw that the ride wasn't running all day. I knew it<

Excellent trip report, RCGenius. I'm glad that you had fun and that the waits were so reasonable for the marque rides. I've piled on GrAdv from time to time, but they do have an amazing assortment of roller coasters, and I've had some great times at the park. Your dad sounds like a cool guy as well.
