Since the slightly off area topic was closed I'm startign a new one dedicated to the change in topic I sugested.

What to you think SFGAdv shoudl be doing with the park. Any aspect of the park, feel free to through out Ideas.

One poster though this up!

personally i think six flags is now finally going in the right direction. they hav realized theming is vital in park success. i think they should get more usltra themed rides instead of just coasters like indiana jones in disney land. i also think that they should get rid of that log flume tha takes up so much space ad put a better one with much theming. theres a whole island out there. they could make it look so cool.

If they can market this resort/hotel properly it will be huge and allow SF to pay off some debt and invest in other properties.

Theming alone will not bring people in, SF will never be able to catch Disney, Busch and Universal in this area.

Really would theming a water flume create a bump at the gate or cause visitors to spend an extra 3 hours at the park (resulting in increased food ,games, souvenir revenue). Keep the parks clean, the staff helpful and the rides working and you have a path to success with repeat customers.

Actually buildign a beter flume and reworking the island may noit be a bad idea is it's done with a few other atraction and perhaps an extention to the now small weastern area.

Right, but, the flume won't attract more guests. I like the flume the way it is anyway.

I don't really like the resort thing. What else is there to do at Great Adventure other than the rides? Plus, you don't really need two or three days to do everything. Well, you could use that because the lines are horrible deep into the season, but Great Adventure just isn't the kind of vacation or get away spot that they are going to try to make it out to be. I say it flops and is what ultimately puts Six Flags under. First it was Kingda Ka and what was basically a desperate organization trying to salvage something. So far they have, but they are just being way to rush rush with this project. They needed to develop and make it more than just a theme park and create other attractions there other than what they have. It needs to be a place that there are a lot of things to do. It is definately not going to be a Cedar Point.

i think a spinning mouse on the waterfront would round off their coaster collection very nicely. a hotel is the last thing the park needs... it would only mean more crowds. in fact, i would even go so far as to say raise season pass prices to above the $100 mark. dorney's is $100 so i think GAdv would be justified in charging that much and hopefully that might cut down on the number of people who have passes. the park is way too crowded now, i think, so above anything else, id love to see less people actually in the park.

It is not that they need to draw less crowds, they need to be able to handle more. Sure, we all would like the crowds to be less, but this is a business, and you have to think about the bottom line here.

If I were in charge, I would do some of the things they are doing and thinking about doing right now. The park IS getting a hotel, it will probably be ready for the 2007 season, and it probably will be an economy style hotel, not a resort. The resort comes later. This is a great move. People for years have been asking for a hotel on site. Heck, there really isn't even one nearby. This will give the park a real chance to get people to come back multiple days as the hotel would offer perks like transportation and early entry into the park.

The next step would be a resort style hotel, with year round entertainment, like an indoor waterpark, dining and shopping, an entertainment center. It is a proven concept that will work very well in this region as it is close to two major metropolitain areas. People will come, even in the winter.

As for the parks, the ride park would continue to expand. I would add several high capacity flat rides as well as the new wooden coaster. I would replace the aging parachute drop with a new Intamin Giant Drop (not the Giro Drop, which is a maintance nightmare). It would be a little bit taller then taht at PKD, making it the talest in the world, and it would also be a unique ride for the area. I would also add a Giant Pendulum. Both of these rides offer great thrills as carry 50+ riders per cycle.

I would add some family friendly rides as well. A paddlewheeler would be perfect for the lake, which goes for the most part unused. With several of these in operation, you can have a constant flow of people riding. Paddle or Swan boats would also be an excellent up-charge attraction. Finally, the park needs a train. It does not matter where, maybe back throught the woods like the original train used to be, but a train would be a people eater as well as a family oriented ride.

The waterpark is pretty modern, but could use a few upgrades. A tornado slide as well as a second tube slide tower would be a good choice here. Maybe a bowl slide as well. The key here should be services. Pool side cabanas, bars for the adults, and extra play structures for the kids, as well as LOTS of shade.

One would wonder how the Safari could be improved, but I have a few ideas. First, the entire thing needs to be repaved. It hasn't been touched in 30 years, and it is showing its age. Fenced in parking area with observation towers could offer an added experiance, as visitors would get a better look at the area. Better infomation boards as well as knowedgeble personal could be stationed at these observation points to answer visitor questions. An improved radio transmiter would help here as well.

There it is in a nutshell, some of my ideas. The park is going in the right direction though. Staffing is not what it needs to be, nut it is improving. The park is vastly cleaner this season, and security is everywhere (though it was before as well, now it seems to be more visable), and rides are operating a little better, but not up to where they should be either.

that island out there could be a better location for a fireworks show with some live performance mixed into it, they could really make that part of the park look awesome. i like the idea of makeing the western part of the park a bit smaller, make another new themed section. The golden kingdom seems like a success, doesn't it?

Sure, so far the Golden Kingdom is a success... it will be until one of those tigers busts out and mauls one of those people that constantly bang on the glass and taunt the poor things. Someone needs to be out there to tell those bastards to stop it.

Anyway, some good points there Cyclonic. I agree with you in some spots and disagree with you in others, but I don't feel like debating about it right now. If you want to debate though, bring it on

And yes, they need to increase capacity somehow. It is crazy to think or say considering that the place is huge, but, the place just gets crazy busy. Having less people in the park! They are far enough in debt already.

Cyclonic - I agree with alot of what you brought up but a few things I i have to through out another idea on.

Parachute tower - Keep it, instl the grient drop tower and instal it some were else in the park perhaps in a new section of the park when they expand an atraction like that would be a draw for the new area.

Water park - This water park always seemed to me as wone with uniquie slides. the Tornado is being over used by Six flags and is a terable ride as capacity gos. perhaps utalize the space and find a newslide to introduce to the world. get a contract that you will be the only park in the east coaster to have it.

The safari- The Safari can't be doing that well if you can enter it off notonly a day pass but any SFI season pass. remodle the intire thing so that the animals can be seen better from the road but remove th eroad and instal a full sized train. the sound sistem would be on it to inform people on the animals. most importantly add the Safari as an atractio to the park. this woudl help to make the park info a full out destination park. also move some of the more interestign animals closer to teh Golden Kindon and alow people to see them in a normal zoo seting.

mrceagle this is the perfect topic

I would love to see Congo Rapids fixed up a lot. It has potential if they clean it up and theme it better.

They need to have both lines on Chiller open or I will only have a few rides on it this year.

Poland Springs Plunge is a waste. You don't get wet and its not fun. They should make you get soaked but then again it is an arrow flume.

I heard Freefall will be more like up to date drop towers. I hope its true.

Its probably too late but a tunnel or two on Nitro would be nice. On line for Batman they should have TV clips of Batman in action. Or they should say on tv clips that you are on a mission to save Gotham city from the Joker or something.

The waterfront area has a cool show but Im sure it could improve. The dolphin show is always great to have.

Superman should also have a detailed mission while waiting in line.

Scream Machine needs new carts.

Rolling Thunder needs to get fixed up.

The flume would be a lot better with the bugs bunny and all them theme I hear about.

Kingda Ka should have animal clips while your in line. If you dont have a season pass its like 5 hours. Im lucky because I can get a lot of rides in on Fridays. It also needs to be open.

I dont know much for Medusa but I guess they could do something.

For all coasters they should have all the trains running at all times.

Hurricane Harbor is awesome but it needs to be cleaner and a few more slides would be great.

The Safari is fine as it is.

My biggest problem with Six Flags is the lines.

I agree they ned to do somthign withthe lines. The story and Que experiance idea isn't bad. that would make the waits better.

I agree a tunnel or 2 on nitro would be awsome

they really need to load and unload people quicker on superman. I started to wait near the station and it still wound up being a half hour wait which isnt that bad but it is if you are near the station.

Actualy besides superman all the rides need to load and unload quicker and all trains should be on the track. The only one that can't improve to much on this is Nitro. They've been doing an excelent job running that lately.

Kingda Ka needs to be fixed and STAY fixed for a while. I've been dying to ride it again.

This park really needs an awsome 3D ride or something of that sort (Spongebob 3D doesnt cut it for me)

They need a good fireworks show or light show because i dont think they have one.

Both sides of chiller really do need to be running as soon as possible.

Other than that the park could be better themed. This park is really doing good things right now and hopefully they will keep it up.

I wish that SUF at great Adventure had the two stations like its clone has in SFOG. I think that would speed up loading. Otherwise get some faster ride ops.

Ride ops are always a problem they won't pay enough to get better people. anywaysh I agree that they need to get Kingda Ka open. i havn't riden it and I'm afread to drive 5.5 hours to have it not operating.

anyways when I was ther ea few years back they had a Quest for Camilot show at night. problem was you couldn't enter from the middle it was shut and they wouldn't let you go in from the sides since there were a few romain candles near it.

Forgive me if this is old news but the Roller Coaster Database web site is reporting that SFGADV is constructing a new Intamin wooden coaster for 2006. Any thoughts on that?

A quick glance at their collection will show you that they could desperately use more wooden coasters or instead one definitive wooden threat. I think that's the main thing missing from their arsenal. Plus then SFGADV can boast another thing Cedar Point doesn't have, a world-class woodie.

yea it is kind of old news theres a thread about it here I'm definently hoping that this new caoster has a tunnel non of the coasters at great adventure has a tunnel. That would definently help make a world-class wooden coaster.

I think they need to improve their maintanence4 because i have heard a lot of people say that they have terrible maintanance, and with a ride like Kingda Ka, if it proves to break down as much as Top Thrill Dragster they are going to need much better maintenance.

KK's closing can't be blamed solely on the maintenance crews. When Dragster was having difficulties, Intamin came in and helped fix the problems.

The wood coaster is a step in the right direction . the one they have, Rolling thunder, is terable. The thing is aparintly the station will be located in the spot Viper once was which puts both there wood coaster togather. I think it woudl do better in another area either in the pirate area of back by Congo Rapids.

Well thats you. I look at allot more in a park then jsut rides. That s why SF parks are lower on my scale then most smaller parks. I feel there shoudl be a mix of rides and in that mix rides shouldn't be clomped together. putign your only 2 wood coastes right nexed to each other in the same section would be in that catigory. but I'm sure it will be the best wood coaster in the park.

The area in which the ride is going to be is fine. I don't think that a wood coaster would fit in anywhere else in the park. Hershey has two woods that are relatively close to eachother. Is that a bad thing?

The douling caoster dosn't count

What about by Congo rapids? perhaps by Skull moutain and runign along the water front? what about moving the picnic grove adn runign it along side the park? thats in the Fantasy Forist area I think.

all of them are away from Rolling thunder and would spred out there wood coasters.

Oh and I know that Wildcate and Lightnign racers are in the same themed area. they are also on oposite sides of each other. not right next to each other.

SFGAdv needs more flatrides and in turn more people to run them because presently half of them don't run! Whenever you go, Spinmeister, Flying Wave, Buccaneer, Fantasy Fling, and Big Wheel are always running; all the others are a complete toss up. I remember when GAdv got like 20 flatrides one year; Evolution, Time Warp, and Jumpin' Jack Flash were of the many. Now, I beleive 4 (Twister, Chaos, Rodeo Stampede, Jolly Roger) are left!!! I can see the point in time where GAdv has more coasters than flatrides.
