Well then those people are stupid. If I have a day off of school or something I see it as a mini-vacation.

yeah no crap, I make 15 bucks an hour at mine lol and I am 20. Don't think that Cedar Point is a big spender. Get a season pass for $99 its a hell of a lot better than spending $44 a time

Once again we see toaddy's ignorance when he thinks he's the only one who has a job and/or is older than everyone else. It's even funnier when he gets caught (remember him telling Black7 what it would be like in college when he's been out of it for some time).

The way I found out about CP is on the discovery channel or travel channel, I dont remember. I live in Illinois and its about a 7 hr drive to CP and they dont show any adds for the park here. But if CP is on national TV then people all over the country are learning about the park even if its not an ad. Im sure glad I happened to catch the show and find out that the parks located within driving distance, or else I wouldve missed out on the best thrill park.

Was it the CP special? That was probably the best coaster show they ever put on the air.

The show that I learned about CP was a top Ten thrill park show, but I did catch the show that featured only CP, and I think it was the best coaster show that I've seen also.

Think of how much publicity parks get by being featured on specials like that.

Yeah thats extremely true. I only knew about it through the Discovery Channel. And I really thank them for spotlighting CP. One trip to CP hooked me and even though I live 10 hours away. I will be coming back for at least a week every year. Can't wait till July 26th 2004

I wonder if Cedar Point makes any money off of a channel showcasing them???

If the question is does Discovery Channel pays for the TV coverage, the answer is NO!

The benefit to CP in providing access is to obtain PR coverage and hopefully alert more enthusiasts of the park to increase attendance.

Hence if Katydid traveled to the park and paid her admission, then CP in turn made money off of the program airing

Let me just say this. I'm from NY, and the only parks I see advertised are the Disney and Universal Parks, and some SFGadv ads. Although everyone who is a coaster enthusiast knows CP, I will agree that it is a secret in the general public. I hate how some people i know get so excited over SFGadv - its like "there are lots of better parks." I agree that CP is not known by the general public.

Like u said in the first post. They make more money than disneyworld and others. But thats not only because they hardyl advertsise, its because everything at cedar point is convenient. There are no parks to hop back and forth, its a one time fee besides the waterpark, the hotels are right in the park so u dont need a 4 mile monorail, cedar point shouldnt make a second park. Or it will end up like disney world.

Agreed, benleibo - I live in NJ, and I've told plenty of folks about CP - they look at me like I'm dreaming, going on and on about this great park in Ohio with all of these wonderful coasters. And yes, most of them have only seen ads for SFGadv, Disney and Universal, and the odd Playland spot. They don't know about PKI, either - rather, their only experience with a wooden coaster is Rolling Thunder - a real sin in my opinion. It falls to my lot to drag their sorry behinds to Knoebels, to experience a real woodie, and a real amusement park.

So true adriahna - except I dragged my sister and brother in-law to CP last May. They will never view amusement parks the same way (and my sister loves Magic Kingdom). They are planning to make the drive to CP every two or three years now, like me

haha see, some people get at what I've been trying to say. Most people only know of the disney parks and six flags. If you don't live around Ohio and you aren't a coaster enthusiast. Chances are you've never heard of cp. And that needs to change

If you never heard of CP, that means that you don't care, or aren't interested in theme parks. You see, not everybody likes amusement parks like we do, and sometimes that's a good thing. CP is pulling in around 3.5 million visitors a year, and it's not even open year round. Now tell me, does the park seem like a secret anymore?

why do we need more people making the lines longer? Cedar Fair has a healthy profit margin and the current visitors are happy. it's a win/win situation all around. The last thing I want to happen on my next drive to Ohio is to be standing on line versus riding on a coaster. Cedar Fair management is smart enough to see the problem of too many visitors. yes more visitors might be good for short term profit but bad in the long run.

I agree....there's nothing worse than being in a crowded amusement park.
