Kingda Ka was an extremely disappointing ride, in my opinion. Of course, the ride is an incredible rush with some fantastic visuals, but the ride overall fails to deliver. The trims at the crest of the tophat severely castrate the ride as all airtime that could be salvaged is converted to a strange feeling of hesitation as you begin the spiraled plunge. The ride is also uncomfortably rough for its youthful age, especially when pulling out of the 418 foot drop. The "airtime hill" is very much a misnomer as there is zero airtime to be had. So what we have left is a good launch, nice vertical ride to the top, and a crappy ending...but at least its a record breaker!!!

Yes, it has OTSRs but they are scarcely the problem on this ride. I actually really like Intamins OTSRs for Rocket Coasters

The point is the unholy acceleration, and a vertical climb/vertical drop that are over 400 feet. I dont begrudge you you the rating (and certainly, 8 is hardly a flame) or your opinion if you didnt dig KK... I just kinda thought that talking about the airtime on KK is kinda like talking about how you dont get very wet on Millenium Force. KnowhudImsaying?

Sort of, but IMO I would expect a ride that goes 128MPH to have airtime! I havnt been on either, I just am saying I dont see why everyone is giving them an average of like a 9.5.

Praxis, I specifically said that the OTSRs did NOT hurt the ride. And from what I read, TTD certainly does have airtime going over the tophat, so to expect airtime on Kingda Ka doesnt seem too unreasonable to me. The launch was very fun, but felt relatively the same as Storm Runners launch (which I rode just the day before). Honestly, it felt exactly like Storm Runner, only more prolonged of a launch...the forces pressed down on you longer. Awesome launch, but still...it just left something to be desired.

^ They do, but you cant really feel them. On the previous posts - what is the deal with everyone getting on everyone else about the type of ride a ride is? I mean first it was hyper twisters and now it is Intamin rockets. I personally get what the ride is about, but that doesnt mean Im going to give it a 10 just for that. Maybe I dont like that it is all about the acceleration and the height and the speed. Maybe I want more from a ride.

TTD usually doesnt have airtime at the top, unless it has a lot of momentum.. even then, its only "floater" air. I wouldnt expect KK to have air, either.

Herc... leaving aside the childishness from the Anonymous one... I didnt mean to sound all up in fergussons grill or anything, nor would I say KK or whatever ride deserves rating X from anyone - if you dont like it, you dont like it. Im just saying that KK never in any way suggests its gonna give you a lot of airtime, anymore than Boulder Dash promises crazy inversions.
