Review of Thunder Run @ Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom

This ride beat me up pretty good. However, it was in the rain (not sure if that matters) and in a train that only had two other people on it. So I know I may not be able to give this ride a fair shake. It basically reminded me of a rough ride on the Hurler, just in a different setting. On the plus I really liked the theming. From the Moon Shine Shack to the clothes hanging on the clothes line, Thunder Run had some nice little theming touches. I also like the layout, similar to Hurler at PKD, but with more trees and some buildings and a path nestled inside the coaster. There was some airtime moments as reported, but the curves and really 80% of the ride was roughness and blinding rain. I expected the ride to be better than it was after reading reviews (or at least smoother) and while Im sure my empty train had something to do with it I have to rate my ride and experience. In that case, a 5 is very generous for pretty rough ride on a Hurler clone. Final Rating - 5.0 (Average)

Weird, I found Voyage (a coaster in your top 10) to be much more aggressive and exhausting than this coaster. I also cant believe you consider this to be a "rough Hurler" so either I caught this on a good day or Hurler on a bad or something like that... to me, this is the coaster Hurler dreams of being. Id be willing to guess that the rain is what affected your ride the most. Oh yea, Hurler came after Thunder Run Nice review dude

Coaster enthusiasts (me included) need to come up with a few different terms that all refer to roughness as we know there are varying degrees and types. Voyages roughness was from a new, fresh track that was doing some insane twists and turns and had a lot of speed for a woodie. Thunder Runs roughness was probably attributed to its age and the empty train that didnt have enough weight in it. Maybe minus the rain and empty train this bests the Hurler but it didnt on my ride. And since I rode Hurler first, to me, Thunder Run is a Hurler clone though it technically came first and apparently has a different builder. Thanks for the props.

I really think its better than a 5 (from what you say a 5 is of course). I really think the airtime on the first 3 hops or so is really great. Maybe its just because SFKK is pretty much baren of any other airtime besides TR that I thought it was so good.
