Review of Swan Boats @ The Great Escape

The Great Escape somehow manages to maintain its classic attractions despite its ownership by a major corporation in Six Flags. Ranging from traditional, one-of-a-kind walkthroughs to neat, little exhibits scattered throughout the park, The Great Escape also continues to let some classic rides thrive including this classic, the Swan Boats.

Located in Storyland, this classic simply looks great. All of the beautiful, white swans look very well maintained and run flawlessly to boot. Not only that, but the attraction’s location on the quaint, little lake is nice, but I personally would have liked if there was a little more shade over the attraction since I was roasting in the sun during my ride, but that’s only a minor complaint. Lines weren’t overly long when I visited, five minutes or so, but the park wasn’t running many swans so on a busy day I can imagine this having a pretty long, slow-moving line.

The whole ride is a nice way to relax and escape the hustle and bustle of the park. I’ve only ridden this once, but from my ride I can say that my swan handled well as it should with these types of attractions. Also, it’s cool how many ducks share the pond with the attraction, which really helps maintain the attraction’s gentle tone. But what really makes this attraction stand out from the pack of these swan boat-style attractions is the incredibly long cycle the park gave. Now that may have been due to the relatively light crowds during my visit, but nonetheless it was greatly appreciated.

The Swan Boats successfully fulfill their niche in this classic park, as a relaxing diversion that entertains both kids and adults despite its age. Now you may wonder, why just a 3? Well, honestly it’s a sub-par attraction overall since while its relaxing, I can’t deny the fact that it is somewhat boring when compared to other attractions. Still, if you’re in need of a quick break from the hustle and bustle of the park, maybe give the Swan Boats a ride, but if you don’t have time you honestly aren’t really missing anything that special.
